Anywhere that I couldn't obtain my own freight.

I wouldn't lease on with someone that punishes you for turning down loads. It just seems that they are treating you like a company driver.

I was going to say the same thing. The first time I was put on ignore or bumped out of my board position because I turned down a load I would be gone.

I'm with you on that one DaveKc. Mainly when you had four or five loads when I was in California and needed to be home in Akron, Ohio for a important meeting in regards to my son. That was at our old carrier, I had to deadhead 2400 plus miles on my dime to make it home. I never have to deadhead a truck like that ever again.

Company drivers don't get punished for turning down loads. Your still at the top of the list the next day as a company driver.

As a CV/Sprinter O/O, I wouldn't sign with any company that limits how many miles and our hours I can drive in any given time...

One of many reasons we left that same carrier years ago. I have little patience for a carrier that can't find freight in a area where I can and they should have many more resources.
The discouraging thing was at that time was they were high paying loads and required little to set them up.
No reason to have a truck DH 2400 miles.
Just have to wonder sometimes.

Dave, this is an excellent question/post. My only concern; however is you could be inviting some sour grapes postings which might not have merit which could in turn paint an unfair picture of some carriers, IMHO. Perhaps the question should be a two part one in which participants are also asked to explain the rationale for their answer(s).

Yea I think your right. Next time I will leave it to where everyone can see who voted for what carrier. Then we will see who will vote for what carrier.
