I was a truck driver, but did'nt drive for a few years now. Now i am looking to get back into trucking. Only thing is need a Hazmat certification. Been doing some research, and found that you can take it online as well as offline. just wanted to know if getting the hazmat certification is feasible online or not. Thanks.

Well thats great that you are getting back into trucking. I am assuming that you already have a hazmat certification. All you need is a refresher course right? Well there are quite a few pros of taking online hazmat training course some of them are as follows

• Lower costs since you don’t have to go anywhere. All you need is a pc or a laptop and an internet connection.
• Therefore you can cut down on the travel, hotel and meal expenses along with not having to be out of office which is the case with offline training courses.
• Hazmat training can be taken from anywhere and done at your own convenience
• Can be done at your own time flexibility.

There are quite a few options from where you can get an online
hazmat training course
And in case you want to read up a little more on hazmat, you can do so at OSHA.

Your local DMV should have study materials available. I just go pick up the book when it's time to renew, go through the hazmat section, then go down while it's fresh in my head and take the test. They'll also be able to tell you what you'll have to do to get finger printed and have the background check.

I got mine the ole' fashion way and went to the BMV.........you gotta go there anyways to get your license updated if you pass the test online so why not just take the test there and knock out two birds with you stone........they have all the study material you will need and if I passed it seriously any pencil pusher can........

It's not that simple guys.He said he's been out of trucking for a few years. Most carriers will treat him as newbie, others will just want him to take a road test, but the hazmat is another situation.First he needs to be finger printed, then when he gets the o k,can then take his hazard test. And remember this isn't cheap anymore, can cost more than $100
