Through the Open Forum, ExpeditersOnline articles, Expedite NOW articles and my own web site, I have thousands of readers. That is a responsibility I take seriously. I have never once embelished or exagerated information about Diane's and my life and work on the road, or about the expediting industry itself. The fact that we absolutely love what we do is just that, a fact. We are very, very happy as expediters and that joy will naturally come through in my writings.
Heck, as I write this, we are sitting in a campground in the San Bernadino National Forest. Sure, there is no freight to haul at the moment (we are dispatched for Tuesday), so what should we do, complain? Maybe we should drive 40 miles and 7,000 feet downhill to the TA in Ontario where we can sit in the truck for two days, breath smog and smell urine as we walk about and wait our Tuesday pickup.
While some truckers are doing exactly that, we are instead parked in clear air in a scenic woods and hiking on forest trails. Is it exageration or embellishing to say expediting provides the ability to camp while you wait for loads? Absolutely not.
Is it one sided to say that is all expediting is? Yes. But kindly note that I did not tell only that side of the story in this post. I described the TA experience too.
Expediting is not this or that. For every expdeiter out there, expediting is exactly what you make it. What is the difference between us sitting in a campground and others sitting in a truck stop? The difference is nothing more than the decision to spend one's time at one place or the other.
