So this morning I am #1 in Indy area and no other CV's or Sprinters around....they call for a 170 mile 70 cent load to Findlay Ohio....Now thinking it is still early and no one around and Findlay would have left me in a bees hive or glut of vans, I refuse....crazy? BUT they called again at 2pm , now I accept a 87 mile mini that pays $100 plus FSC big deal 4 cents..This decision drove load planning nuts, they couldn't understand my thinking..but the difference is only about 15 bucks and it leaves me to go back around to where there is almost no one...Ya throw your penny in the pond and hope for the best....I guess...?

Ken,
That logic just messes people up.. LOL.

I've been getting several short runs and coming back to wait in good center, while others still sittin.

Oh well, I like the big runs too, but if everyone is sitting waiting, I'll run 'em and go back home :p.

I've talked to a couple drivers who said they've had no runs, while I had 4 or 5 and came back. I told them I ran several short runs.. and it's always the same "Yeah, I got that offer, but not moving for <250 , <500 whatever..."

In the last few weeks, I've ran 3 or 4 <75 runs, used that status to jump the list, and keep runnin.

Keep sittin, I'll keep takin... :D

Dreamer..exactly....:D

There is no excuse to sit 10-11 days especially with a bigger carrier...I'd fire their butt if they did...

You know the system...I know the system....and if these here rookies want to survive they'd better learn the system....
Or you and I will take their loads!!:D

We've told them and told them.....

I used to chide them openly on this forum for their "don't wannas" or " won't do's", while profiting in the background from good runs that they didn't wanna/won't do. If tings are that tuff out there, better not keep reinforcing the fact....they may jes catch on.

I was just thinking....I know dangerous thing to do....there is a certain carrier that discourages movement by penalizing the truck for moving to a better area...when the dwell time doesn't move with the truck...In this era it has been very beneficial to BOTH the carrier and driver to take dwell time with you....so the fleet can spread out...without penalty.

COL. is right, OVM- I wouldn't bet on it. And you are correct, the ones that turn them down plain and simple are not good business people and WILL fail.
it was the same back when I did vinyl siding and exterior trim, often times we would get an offer to do the trim only and most crews would turn it down saying they wanted the 2 story with siding and trim or nothing, me and my crew would go out and do the trim only in one day and have 3-5 of those a week and make twice as much as those other crews that thought " I am in business for myself,I dont have to do those piddly trim jobs anymore" and I would agree with them all the way to the bank.:p
