What would you do if you find out that one of your drivers was running constantly your vehicle with 90+ mph?

Being a truck owner or a Safety guy the answer is quite simple - eliminate that exposure to liability.

First thing fire them. I would then speed limit your truck.

First thing I did it was to ask him to buy the van from me for a more than decent price. Since the answer was a refusal, I had to let him go. But I still feel sorry for him and I'm thinking of giving him a second chance, but as you said, to limit the speed at 75.

Its never easy to let someone go but feeling sorry could end up biting you in the butt big time.

You MUST eliminate this driver's ability to destroy your company by way of crashing. Not to mention your safety rating.

Opel, in some States, 90+ or 15mph+ over posted speed is/can be charged as wreckless endangerment (a third class felony)...who will give you a second chance when/if sued beyond your coverage if this person is involved in an accident which statistically he is more likely to.. And if you own other trucks, those drivers could be out of a job also....

If he is willing to drive at such speeds it is very likely he is doing other, maybe more dangerous stuff. So long bubba!

Buy him a one way ticket on a 90 MPH train home.
No need to complicate the simple.

He got his ride back home... he lives about 15 miles away from my place.

Best thing you could have done before he killed himself or someone else.

1. I would verify that the information is accurate. 2. If it proves true that the driver is running 90+ constantly, I would immediately terminate him or her.

I once terminated a driver because he was a 2 footed driver.....I was doing too many front brake jobs...he cost me money...had he made me more money then the average driver, I might have reconsidered...

The info was very accurate: the GPS showed me the speed records. He didn't know the GPS does that... he was complaining about the GPS as being inaccurate, outdated, etc., so I gave him a brand new one. On the first GPS, the top speed was 93 mph. I thought maybe he just passed another vehicle and that's why the high speed. One week later I checked the new GPS, this time it was 94. When I told him about his speed, he said "I didn't realize I was driving that fast".

Not sure what type of GPS you are using.
Our Rand McNally TND-710 currently reports our top speed as well over 120 mph! (Truck is governed at 65.) Not really impressed with the accuracy ;)

It's Garmin and it's accurate, I verified it myself when it records the top speed. Of course, the top speed I reached was 78 in western Texas.

I discovered if your gps falls off the dash the hi speed will change giving a false reading clear the speed and drop it on a pillow and see for yourself

My Garmin had me running 278 mph in a TT, maybe he didn't know he was driving that fast because he wasn't. What did his mpg look like?
