What would you do?

You are standing in Wal-Mart, looking at the magazines and books in one of those sections that have half shelves by the check out lanes when a woman and her kids (one 4 year old and a baby in one of them car seat things in the basket) are at the end of the isle. The older kid grabs a magazine and sits down in the middle of the isle, as the baby proceeds to cry. She shuts the baby up and the older kid is ripping the magazines apart.

Got the scene so far?

So as you are throwing the stuff you selected into the basket (yours not hers), the baby starts to cry again so you look up to find no mother around. You look all around, she is no where to be found. So you stand there and watch for a few moments and notice a Wal-Mart employee behind you putting up baseball cards that some brats ripped open and tell him what is going on. You are not the only one who is watching the kids; a lady with three kids of her own is watching them from the women’s clothing section right across from the book and magazine section. After the employee stands there for a minute, he calls security and the manager. All the while you are looking around for the mother and can’t see here anywhere.

So after five minutes of people milling around and the manager getting ready to take the kids to her office, the mother pops up to claim her kids before the manager can do anything.

Now here is the rest of the story,

She starts ripping into the manager about how dare anyone thinks the kids are abandon and she is really ##### off that someone dare call the manager over her kids being left alone like this. The manager tried really hard and successful in keeping her cool while trying to explain Wal-Mart’s position on children’s safety while in the store and explain why she was called and by which employee. When the manager pointed out the employee, this piece of work ripped into him. The employee in his great wisdom points to me and says it is my fault and walks away. She starts in on me and I waited until she slowed down to tell her this;

“Lady, it is sad that you are a mother of these children, in this day and age we should not tolerate the outright stupidity and ignorance you showed all of us and you are the poster child for sterilization. People like you are the ones who ***** and complain when someone hurts a kid but look at you today, you are the reason kids get hurt. How the **** would you feel if something happened to them? like ****, I hope and of course you are the idiot who would blame Wal-Mart and everyone else for your own stupidity. I only hope that your kids grow up to be good and not follow in your foot steps, you ignorant ****.†And I walked away.

Later the lady who was in the Women’s cloths section thanked me for my diligence in telling the employee and she heard what I said which she thought it was not out of line at all.

I'll bet when she checked out of Wal-Mart she paid for her groceries with food stamps, and for the other goods with the dollars from her welfare check.

I'd be inclined to tell her how the cow ate the cabbage and call CPS on her if I could get her car make and license plate.

Way to go! My pet peeve is the people who leave their kids in the car while they go inside the gas station, convenience store, whatever. I can't tell you how many times my wife or I have sat beside cars with wee ones in the back seat. Sometimes even babies asleep. Very dumb.

I can't drive away knowing there's a baby alone.

That isn't being a liberal. The liberals, like queen Hilar(ious), believe "it takes a village" so they'd look at this as the village chipping in to watch the little darlings.

Brenda,
I understand what you are saying but the truth is many of my liberal freinds would have walked away because they feel it is the freedom of the mother not to be questioned because of their idea of personal responsiblity. As stupid and backward as this sounds, the conservatives I know all would have done the same thing I did because they strongly believe in the old system of involvement, see something wrong - get involved to correct it, don't just complain about it.

This is the true departure between the two schools of thought.

Dreamer,
A few years back I pulled into a lumber store and behind me pulled in a girl with two kids in a SUV. She parked her SUV in the driveway and ran into the store with the SUV running and the kids in the back. I didn't see the kids until I and another guy passed the SUV going into the store and we both made the comment about calling the cops. He told me to call and he pulled his truck around back of the SUV. When I saw this, I pulled mine in front and the cops were on thier way. When she came out, the cops were pulling up and she had a fit. The other guy did all the talking about what he saw and why he blocked her in. I just stood there with a smile on my face. She was screaming about she was just running into the store to pay for something and didn't want to disturb the kids. Well she got arrested for her screaming at the cops and the kids were held until the state police got there. I understood she almost lost her parental rights over this and should have.

I always call the cops, I don't hesitate on kids locked in a car for any reason. I have done this a few times and will continue to do so in the future.

About 25 years ago I was in the mall. A woman with about an 18 month old was walking out. Her normal pace was almost running for the baby who was obviously tired and being drug along. He was crying and she stopped near the doors and gave him several swats on the butt, yelling at him to shut up. I asked her if she she would shut up if I came over and smacked her butt a few times as hard as I could. She got a shocked look on her face and said she was going to call the police. At the time I was a reserve deputy constable so I pulled my badge out of my back pocket and asked her if she wanted to pursue this officially. She shut up and left. I called after her to think before she did that again.

Hi

Well answer your question.I would of stood there and watched the kids for the lady.I would of took the magazines away from the kid and given him my best I'll kick your behind if you do that again look.I wouldn't of said a word.

I remember what it was like having to take my 3 kids to the store.Usually ended with them crying and me leaving the store without what I came for.

When I was a kid we always stayed in the car. All 8 of us and we all lived.I think people pay to much attention to how other people live these days.Do you know when a polition is getting ready to take away one of our rights? They say they are doing this to protect our youth.I love it they are Our youth until it comes to actualy raising them then its Your kids.
