What to do?

Ok, let's say that I came up with a ton of money :)D) , which I have not :)(), and wanted to buy a new APU. Is there a market for parting out or selling used APU's? If so where are the outlets?

Second question. Is anyone out there using a ComfortMaster APU? If so, what is the scoop? Does it perform as advertised? Break a lot? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yea there is a market for people like me who want the engine and generator cheap but outside of that, I don't think so.

The problem is this is another "I paid $XXXXX for it and put all this money into it, and after having it for 5 years with 60000 hours on it, it is worth a little less than I paid for it" attitude. It is a tool, it is like a reefer unit which loses a lot of value due to the age and usage. The resale value of the APUs are propped up by the fact that everyone wants one but that means little to the guy who bought someone elses problems.

I think of it like other truck parts, took boxes for example. The guy has a beat up old box which is worth $50 scrap value, no door or the door is beat up on it that it needs some patching. But because he paid $700 for the thing, it is worth $300 to him.

Well back to the APU...

Parts wear out, and unlike a reefer unit (there are only a couple of manufactures), parts are not off the shelf stuff (controller boards) so if you can't find the right servicing or the right parts, then you are kind of screwed. I know some manufactures listened to their users others watched while APU owners struggled with some issues and they are using off the shelf stuff that you can get anywhere. There are various layouts but they are basically all the same - engine, belt driven compressor or generator.

by the way I can get a used reefer unit ($700 works) cheaper than I can a used APU unit ($1100 that may not work).

I think I been sitting in the sun too long

Well, just how much is a ton of money? It sounds like an incomprehensible amount. But how much is 2,000 pounds really worth? Naturally, the answer depends on the kind of money you’re weighing.
According to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, all U.S. bills weigh the same: one gram. About 454 grams make a pound, which means that a ton of dollar bills would be worth $908,000.
With coins, it is a different story. A quarter weighs 5.7 grams, according to the U.S. Mint; therefore, a ton of quarters would be worth $40,000. With pennies, it gets worse. You need 363,000 pennies (at 2.5 grams each) to make a ton, and the value of the pennies is a paltry $3,632.

So is it pennies or dollars?:D

Can't answer your question about ComfortMaster, but there is a company here in Columbus, OH that takes used APU's on trade. They sell Carrier and install them as well. I believe they recondition and sell used units. Company name is ELW, they are located at on I 71 Exit 97, Grove City. You can see them from the Interstate. Link to there website is below. They advertise in LandLine magazine.

Thanks, will check them out. I doubt that I would buy Carrier, too much like my proheat, not enough fixes to satisfy me.

Does anyone know who owns the FDCC truck that ComfortMaster uses on their webpage to show off their product? I want to hear from them just how that system works etc.
