What promo Items do you need or want??

Need some help/input from everyone.

I am trying to decide on what promo item to purchase that will be sent to new customers when they place an order with the truckpipestore. Most of my customers are truckers, so I was hoping that you guys could help me answer this question.

I have been to so many shows and all they hand out is a pen and or a small trinket. What is it that a trucker could really use that would be within reason for a promo item. AKA my www.truckpipestore.com logo on it.

For my wish list:

1. Airline antifreeze canister (injector cansiter,,bendix makes a nice one)
2. A set of filters for my truck or a small case of em.
3.those thingys to clean ice off my wiper blades.

Dan,,as a saleman ya should know most promo things are basicly junk and end up in the trash as you all ready said.We can get trinkets at walmart..

Now if ya want to put your logo on something,,,,
How about a old fashion bottle opener to hang in the shop for our beer bottles.. Just an idea,,allways looking for faster ways to open my beer:D

Good ideas there with a few problems..
Most of us are getting older eyes so we need LARGE screen calculator.
clip board is good, as long as the clip holds up to constant slapping as Im irritated when sitting in traffic.
exhust bottle opener,,nice but kinda my idea so I lay claim to first free one..
Doggie Daddy just wondering if your missing something here..He is trying to sell pipes here not give em away.you must buy the Pipe and get a promo.

I totally agree with you that its mostly junk. I bought some small coolers you could sit on once and my customers loved them. I refuse to buy the junk that everyone else is using. I really like the bottle opener idea. I could buy a bunch and get them chromed.

I am not shy to make horse trades with folks. I did recently donate some pipes to a car in the Fireball run that is starting this week. Its cause is for the awareness and recovery of missing children.. Its kinda like the Cannonball run across the country. I thought it was a great deal, the driver is putting 4 of my stickers on the car for us.

Back in the day, I was a Tool Dealer...drove a big van to shops and sold hand tools. Each winter I gave away a really good snow/ice sraper, I know guys that still have them they were great and the scraper edge would make a darn good weapon too.

One other thing would be a real good hi-intensity flashlite....

I like the sticky dashboard calendars, not magnets. They are getting harder to find.
I like quality, not cheap pens. I use the stainless steel zebra pens mostly, but if I find a free pen that writes nice, I'll use it till the ink runs out or someone "borrows":rolleyes: it.
Also those dash mats that you can place a cell phone on and it doesn't move are nice to have.

Diane and I have gone out of our way to score only two promotional items. They are durable shoulder bags and the stick-on calendars that Dakota mentioned. These are the small ones that fit nicely on a sun visor.

As to their effectiveness, I can't tell you what names are on the bags we have but our calendar came from Petro. It is a stroke of marketing genius, I believe, that Petro built into these calendars coupons or messages that appear every month when the previous month's page is torn off.

Yes, we have calendars on our computers and telephones and probably on other devices too, but the one that gets used is the Petro calendar on our sun visor.

My wish list:

1. A vehicle to vehicle intercom type system, so I can talk to the idiot in the car ahead and let him know what I think of his driving.

2. An auto pilot for my van so I can take a nap when I don't have time to take a nap.

3. A tractor beam so I can control the car ahead of me and move him where I want. That would be helpful with those vigilante types who like to stubbornly refuse to move out of the left lane.

4. Brokers who know what a driver's cell phone number is and how to use it. Why do you think I'm up at this hour?

5. And whirled peas. I don't know why I should want whirled peas, but I've been hearing people for years talk about how they dream about whirled peas and how we should all work for whirled peas, etc. If that many people want whirled peas that bad, maybe they're pretty darn good.


Oh, realistically...I guess calendars and pens are nice.

I'm a hat and T-shirt kinda guy,at the expo this year I scored big at the T&K Nationwide booth,hat,shirt,mouse pad,pens,post it note pad.

Ditto, on the hats and T-shirts
Also, I have a few post it note pads that are slightly larger then the regular size post it note, they have trucking company logos on them and it something that I use.
Some promo items end up in the junk drawer or round file cabinet, but I would never throw away post it notes(they are pricey at the office supply stores)

Also I agree with Ateam I see the company logo every time I look at the calendar, same could be seaid about the post it notes

Here's another [because I can't find them, lol]: CD cleaners. I can't remember who handed them out, and I didn't even know what it was for awhile:eek: [looks like an oversize guitar pick, with sponge pads in the center of triangular plastic pieces], but I got a lot of use out of it, until it got lost.
