Say a customer does not agree with the load count, and refuses to sign?

My answer would be re-load it, call dispatch, than the Police if they refused to load it back. Came very close to this last summer any suggestions.

You're right... call dispatch. Let them decide what should be done. Taking matters into your hands could damage your company's reputation with the customer. Your company may have you write "refusal to sign" on the bol. I wouldn't get the police involved unless dispatch tells you otherwise. In the end, servicing the customer is what matters. And it's up to us to stay put until it's resolved.

Tho I know of your situation last year, they were clearly out of line with what they did. My suggestion to you is: keep your tact, call dispatch, and continue to communicate. Eventually the shipper/consignee will come to their senses and do what's right.

During orientation we were given specific instructions including writing refused to sign as Thawk mentioned. I don't remember all the details now because it's been a while but I'd just call dispatch and put the monkey on their back. Then it would be time for a sandwich or something out of the truck pantry while I let them deal with it.

when picking up the cargo make sure you count it with the shipper and note anything like shipper load and count, if it is damage make a note of that, if it is wrap up said to contain x number of pc's
etc and call dispather before moving and one most important item
do not pull away from the dock if you do you have accpted the load
stay at the dock
alway like dispather handle it's there job
with egl have a couple of place's we go they sort the item's out and have to wait for them to count it even if it say's one pc's at 100 lbs

Be very careful if you deliver any home-depot loads...they like to put stuff away or right on the floor when it gets delivered and they will sign your paperwork as short knowing they got the freight.

I went to court a few years ago after I was told a skid of Honda Mowers 10 each didnt get to destination. The store was in Ludington Michigan. I had gone to the rest-room upon arriving and when I got back the truck was empty and the guy said these mowers weren't on the truck?

Since I never saw the truck get loaded and it was a mixed load I agreed that it could be true since it happened in the past. Six months later my company said remember this load? well we're fighting the claim..so I suggested tracking the serial numbers of the mowers and finding out where the warranty cards were registered.

I figured that if someone knew they were stolen they wouldnt have filed the cards but they were all filed in Ludington. So HD immediatly attacked me saying I stole them, well I took them to court...with my company sitting in there as they brought in 8 people all stating they bought their mowers at that store.

Even in court they lied and stated they never got the mowers even though people produced recipets to the judge ( big company power)The judge basically called HD theives themselves and we won

The moral is watch your truck get loaded/unloaded..check the count if theres tons of boxes on a skid theres an easy way to get it counted...count everything on one side...go to the opposing side count that then go to the 3rd side ( middle) and count that

My new box has a roll up door so they can't get into it until I'm inside the dock and unlock it. That way they have to break the seal or at least watch me do it and they can't take anything out without me seeing them do it.
