What is an acceptable percentage to make off a loa

Hi guys and gals,

Am thinking about moving to a different expediting company, and am trying to figure out if this is for me. I currently do a job that pays by the box, kind of like Fed Ex. The company I am considering will have me doing regional work, and they take a cut of 40 percent of whatever the freight pays. Does this sound like the standard, or is it too much or just fine? I told my father who is a long haul truck driver and he just about screamed when I told him, but I told him this is an entirely different ball game, in my humble opinion. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've learned on the forum a driver normally gets 60% and pays fuel. The owner of the truck gets 40% pays tolls, up keep and for the truck.

I get 57% of what my company gets from customer. Then I get about 53%of what the owner of the truck. i drive a 24 ft. box. I think the bigger the truck the bigger the %.
Hope this helps
