Ok, this probably doesn't belong in the forum - but here goes...

What is a Canadian?

An unarmed American with health insurance.

LOL! LOL!

I've often wondered why the Canadian folks refer to their south of the border friends as "Americans" and leave themselves out of that category. It seems to me that anyone living in the Americas is an American

Terry,

Canadians have an ongoing "identity Crisis" living next to the world's only Super-power.

Then again...why don't Americans call themselves "Canadians" - since Canada is the largest country of all the Americas? :D :D :D

Terry: You YANKS (there I didn't say Americans) have taken the word AMERICAN to describe yourselves.
You don't call yourselves STATESIANS or UNITEDIARNS or anything like that; just Americans.
We, the other peoples of the Americas, accept that and call ourselves Canadians or Mexicans or Brazillians.

That's my theory anyways.

What would you rather we call ourselves? United States of Canada? LOL
I know most ppl in Canada would rather we be called Clintonia. I prefer FREE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA, but our government would never allow that... besides, nothing is free.

That brings up a good question...
What do people in the United Arab Emirates call themselves?

I'm quite happy with you calling yourselves Americans. That's what you are!

There's an old expression........."I don't care what you call me; just don't call me late for dinner"

Oh, I missed that crack......only what I call the "nattering classes" would prefer Clintonia. (Somebody...must have voted for Bill; he did get re-elected after all) I'm not in agreement, personally, with the invasion of Iraq; but obviously enough Americans were impressed with Mr. Bush for HIM to get re-elected.

Let's not get started on Canada re-electing the gLiberals. I have never voted for them.

I'm not going there at all. I'm talking about Clinton's popularity there rivals the British royalty. So many people showed up to his book signing in Toronto, you'd think Christ had been reborn as a Toronto Maple Leaf! I can't explain his fame across the border, other than the love Canadians have for the tabloids (unless it's in their own government, of course). And that's all his administration was good for... one giant eight year long soap opera.

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Canada now joins Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain as the fourth country in the world to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry. On July 19, the Canadian Senate passed Bill C-38 that gives same-sex couples the same right to marry as opposite-sex couples.
