What did you pay?

What did you have to pay to get your Sprinter water pump replaced? They say it requires the whole front end to come apart, from the grill back. Maybe 20 hours?

I didn't have to pay anything. I just stuck a note on the front of the radiator that said, "This is not my water pump".

Sorry, man, I couldn't resist. :D

$117.17 for the water pump at Autozone (List price is $188, Europarts is $137.92).
$254 labor to remove and replace the water pump at a non-dealer mechanic. I think book labor is 2.5 hours on it. I was quoted from a Dodge dealer $425, so it shouldn't be much more than that, if any.

You do have to remove the headlights (or at least loosen them a little), the grill and the radiator support bar, and then you can cam in a 6-8 inch bar or piece of 2x4 to force the radiator away from the engine, so you can get to the fan and water pump.

Some mechanics will remove everything, including the radiator, but that's really not necessary. Saves an hour or so if you don't do that.

Yes..my tech hedged a bar from rad to firewall...to push the rad out of the way...it is not that expensive to have done...

200k miles ago I paid 169.00 for water pump, 22.00 in coolant, gasket 7.00, 182 in labor. Labor was high due to having some other things done.

Lake Norman Dodge, NC

Doan Dodge in Rochster, NY

Domimion Dodge in Salem, VA

Charlie's Dodge in Maumee, OH

All the above are in the same ball park on replacing pump.

Oh, and Satterfield Wrecker Service in Sikeston, MO-lol, yep they work on Sprinters. They have a tech that use to work on them at FreightLiner. He and "gayboy" work as a team... I have a funny true story about those two, they helped me out when I thought all was lost....
