I came across something on the drivers page for panther that gives a start date. I think it said 7-22-06, as our start day that seems right, but did we find out day of or day after?

Saturday July 22, 2006: 08:00: I was out walking my dog. When I got home my wife said Don Fegtley, V.P. Sales called and I should call him right back, on his cell phone and on a Saturday morning. I thought now what did I do to warrant this call?

I called him back and got the news. I then called some other drivers and then Panther.

Sunday I left for an 8 day trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The rest is history.

I was in a motel, in Spartanburg when a fellow ConWay [and former Panther] driver called & told me. I didn't believe it till I dialed ConWay's phone number & someone answered "Panther Expedited" All I could say was "Am I driving for you, now?" Surreal!

I did a swap at the TA just north of Richmond, VA being a panther. Here pulls in a Conway Now van come over and asked if I was doing a swap and they told me they were going to swap with me. "No way" I told them we don't swap out with different companies unless we are told ahead of time. After I had called dispatch and they told me that Panther had just bought Conway Now and go ahead and do the swap and show them how to do the paper work and give them some pros if I could.
So being an old Conway driver I showed them how to do the pros and how it was different then how Conway did it.
Having made friends with some of the staff at Conway it was a sad day knowing that so many had just became unemployed and they all where good workers.
