If you averaged over $4000 a month, worked about 22 days amonth, your boss was hard to get along with, but you knew that, and you've been there 4 years. the money was never late.would you quit 'cause you didn't have time to smoke a cigarette?
just wondering

I wouldn't work for a gross of $4000 a month even if it is only for 22 days a month to begin with.....but if i did, but if I did, i wouldn't quit over the smoking issue cause I don't smoke...but if I did, no i wouldn't quit...time is money, lets roll.....

Is it safe to guess this is your co driver we're discussing?. Twenty two days on the road are different then twenty two days working in a 9-5 work place. I'm guessing he\she is responsible for her\his taxes and expenses. For me at my point in life I would quit smoking (if I did at all) to keep the job. It may be something else and this is the excuse needed to cut lose.

Since I don't smoke I wouldn't be quitting over that. Perhaps over something else but not smoking.

A lot of smokers don't always think that rationally. Not saying that about all of them, but I've seen some smokers do some crazy stuff.

In case you haven't figured this out,22 days is just 3 weeks.$4000 for 3 weeks is pretty good pay, when his only road expense is cigarettes and food, and many times I've paid for the food.He doesn't pay for motel rooms or fuel or anything else having to do with the truck. How many co drivers do you know that make over 50k a year

Sorry to hear that you lost your co-driver Steve. $50,000.00 a year is really good for a co driver.

That's what it's about. The cigarette thing was just the straw (read excuse).

Ya, being married to a co who is 'hard to get along with' is one thing... to have to put up with a difficult personality 24/7 for weeks at a time without a committed personal relationship is... not gonna happen, IMHO. Give the guy a medal for lasting 4 years with that!

Since I don't smoke I would not quit over that. I would have never started in the first place. I can't handle cigarette smoke anymore. I had enough when I was in a band, all those weddings, Legions etc. It just gets me now.

I do smoke and my co driver does not. I never smoke in the truck. Whenever we stop i always get out. Sometimes only smoke half one then back on the road. But thats fine with me. He dosen't want me to smoke in the truck and i respect his wishes. I can't say i would quit over it. Just adjust to it.
