What are the costs of rebuilds?

In particular a Cummins 300 or 315. I heard that a Cat is largely prohibitive from a cost to service standpoint in many cases. Also, I`m not a big Cat fan. Any info would be appreciated, along with a phone or email of a Cummins rebuild shop of where it can be done on the east coast. Yhere used to be one that I used a couple of times out on Rte. 70 in Missouri, but that was years ago, when i was driving TT.

If you want a great place to do a rebuild, R and R Engine out of Akron,Ohio does alot of rebuilds on expedite trucks. The cost to do a rebuild on a 3126 Cat is around $6000.00. better than paying $15,000.00 for a new motor.

I read somewhere recently that it's better to take your truck to an engine dealer than it was a truck dealer. Mainly because they have the access to factory parts. I think it was in the last issue of Landline Magazine.

Sounds like good advice to me. There are a lot of dealers who outsource that stuff to the engine shops anyways. Take it to the people who specialize in the very thing you need.

Ive run cats for years 3406's that is,not expediters.Except for a couple of times, when no fault of cat,had motors blow up,ive traded my tucks with over 800000 miles and no over hauls.the detroit im running now has over 600000 miles, looks like it might do the 800000 miles also.If i were to have a motor rebuilt,i'd go to the engine company, faster in and out, thats what they do for a living
