What and when did it happen?

Was it the fact that I didn't pay that much attention when I was younger, or did things actually change in the Congress and the "reporting" of it?

I'm not trying to say that the Congress and Media were full of Scholars, but I don't remember this much acrimony. Almost seems like they are being egged on by the "press" and they feel obligated to get a dig into the opposing side.

Reminds me me of the old saying "Together we stand divided we fall"

The government has been dividing the Nation, on purpose, for years. That is the reason for all these "set aside" people.

Yes but when did it happen? It used to be that you would at least show some respect to the Congress. Now it is a race to be as disrespectful as possible it makes no sense.

Congress is the reflection of the people and because of that fact, it has and never deserved any respect of the people who put the people in the seats.

If you read the news from the early history of our republic, it is very critical and very unforgiving of the actions of congress and more specifically some people in congress.

The face still remains I as a citizen don't have to treat my senator or congressman as someone above me but rather equal to me. We have pretty much been mesmerized with the celebrities in politics that we had since the 30's and it has grown into a cottage industry to the point that we actually act like a congressman or senator or for that matter the president is someone special and we must bow down to them.

John McCain made a statement that most Americans are more interested in Sunday football and beer than what is happening in Washington, true statement !!!!

You have to Give Respect before you Recieve it and Congress Does Not Respect the Citizens of this Great Country and Hasn't for Years! Until they Respect me then they will get My Respect but I don't see that Happening especially with the Morons in that Position Now!!

If only from the standpoint that they are also, themselves, citizens.

Indeed, one should not view them at all as equal to oneself, at least in their official capacity - they are, in actual fact, subservient (or at least should be)

Show them respect ..... and admiration - if they earn it by acting in the public interest .... and reserve for them your scorn and utter contempt if they do not.

They deserve no more respect than what is given to any person. When they show disrespect to us they lose all respect. They are not our rulers, leaders or commanders, they are our employees and should be treated as such. We should be controlling them, not, the other way around. Why has so many Americans forgotten that most basic idea of how this country runs?

The only thing that the government gives us is a frontal lobotomy. Being brain dead makes it far easier for you to be controlled.
