Boy no kidding on that one! It's funny how fast this man can move to arrange meetings when the topic is one that has offended him personally. For someone that is so quick to single out the common citizen for ridicule, he certainly is thin-skinned!

While the General's comments probably were inappropriate in time of war... I'm just thinking if they had been said about Bush, the press would be just sayin "Yup, he has a right to disagree"

Exactly and replacing him with Petraeus....we all remember when the left loved him so much they referred to him as General betrayus.....what a bunch of jerks.

He was called a Rasist on a few late night radio talk shows last night...personally i think he did it on purpose. He spoke how he feels and so did his aides...he was fed up with the TOE and the "wimps" in thw WH tighting his troops hands....this was his way of getting out the word and his displeasure and letting the people see how real thin skinned barry is...he will have more to say no that he has resigned..and it was said that he didn't give barry a chance to even say a word, he walked in and resigned and left.....

Yea his words and those of his aides were not the right thing to say in under the military protocol, but they served his purpose....

LOL, i wonder if barry had any thoughts of "this is the azz i need to kick!"...he would have made a huge mistake if he had tried.....lol :D

People like McChrystal don't get to their station in the military being politically clumsy. I'll bet he knew what he was doing and was sending a message to go along with his resignation. This guy is a soldier and a warrior - not a butt-kissing sycophant like so many of those Pentagon bureaucrats. Although the media refuses to spin it otherwise, this could be a signal that the morale in Afghanistan is going downhill and the General could no longer support Oborat's policy of failure and surrender. It's hard to imagine a true soldier's inner conflicts working under this Coward in Chief.

I think he knew what he was doing also, but the same rules were applied as if someone in the service had come out in public speaking that way of him. Those opinions of his should have been made in private, but then again, maybe he wanted everyone to hear it and knew what the consequences were.

I also think he knew what he was doing and I think it was a way out of a mess that he isn't talking about. He didn't demand the premiere journalist rag to retract anything or demand it wasn't printed.

In all honestly, he may know the war is lost thanks to this guy in the WH. It may be a move to shorten the war because the Afghan leadership told Obama not to change the leadership because it is a bridge of trust that was built with this general and it will be destroyed. They have stressed that they need the same people doing the work, not rotate people or fire them when you have a 'crisis'.

Oh by the way, he resigned his command, not his career. He will be working stateside, much of his staff is being reassigned and that will be it. He will end up retiring in a few years as a General of bean counters or logistic operational commander of deployment of lug nuts or something like that.

Greg, I see this differently. After being publicly upbraided by Obama, the general will almost certainly retire from military service very soon. Obama chose to publicly humiliate McChrystal in the most public way possible. As a matter of principle, McC will go away quietly. Our thin-skinned president is so weak he over reacts in an attempt to appear tough. Obama is very sensitive to criticism of any type from any quarter. Obama is indeed the commander-in-chief, but is held in low regard. If Obama and the Democrats insist on forcing a repeal of "Don't ask, Don't tell" after the McC debacle... there is going to be something just short of widespread mutiny. Obama continues to disregard the opposition of the very people whom would be affected by his social engineering schemes.

I have LITTLE doubt that the general knew what he was doing and did it on purpose. I have not read his comments but if they in any way called Obama a military idiot they would be spot on.

When you are in the military you "lose" certain rights, free speech is one of them. You do NOT have the "right" to openly question the civilian leadership. That IS how it SHOULD be.

Having said that the general is far superior to Obama when it comes to military matters and most likely in just plain horse sense as well. This was most likely the ONLY way he could get his message out to the American people. He "fell on his sword" so to speak to get the work out that Obama and Co. are dangerous to our troops in the field and the Nation as a whole.

I believe that I would have liked to serve under this man. I would NOT have served under a bum like Obama.

You know layout, I got to tell you how much this is really a non-issue because it seems to be done to overshadow other issues, like the leak of classified information and the lack of concern on other operational issues with this war.

We lost this war, it was obvious in January of 2009. With the withdrawl and engagement rules, it just quickens the loss.

To me it is simply a CiC who is out of control. With past generals being replaced, there shouldn't be a comparison to MacArthur/Truman or Patton/FDR or even McClellan/Lincoln but rather Obama vs. the rest of the country. But in this digital age, he is a god and not to be messed with. As I think Ben Stein pointed out, everyone who has crossed paths with him has been on the short end of the stick, a lot like people who crossed old man Daly in Chicago.

As long as we have this Coward in Chief and this Congress this Nation is in DEEP trouble. Their unwillingness to defend is criminal and their continued attacks on our Constitution and way of life is treason. The general was hoping to wake up the People in my opinion. Wake them up so they will NOT be "done in" while they sleep.

Didn't McChrystal and the President agree on the same strategy in Afghanistan? http://armed-services.senate.gov/statemnt/2009/December/McChrystal 12-08-09.pdf#page=2

The General and his staff were out of line and he had no choice but to offer his resignation and the President accepted it.

Layout, as a past service member myself such as yourself, I have to say I am disapointed in your defending of this General, his staff and their conduct. Just as the President said in the Rose Garden yesterday, "I welcome debate among my team, but I won't tolerate division". If anyone in here can understand that I thought it would be you.

I wish Gen. McChrystal the very best and hope he is able to go on with his stellar military career and put this whold fiasco (whom he created) behind him.

The military has ALWAYS been banned from talking to the press on these issues. Nothing new here. McChrystal very might be under restriction for as long a 10 years after he retires, I was.

If that's the Case then It's Too Bad, Looks like Obumma gets a Free Pass on this One Too :(
