Weekly Revenue II

Well, things have improved for me at Eagle. My last gross was at 725. And this week may be near 1500!. I'm certain that figure won't come up frequently, but at least now I can pay off my fuel bill in full. Had several 150-200 mi trips, and then took one to Dallas, back to Wichita, and then out to central KS, and back to the dock. That's the closest yet to driving like an expediter! I've met several cargo van expediters at GM Fairfax, and at Ford Claycomo, and have received good advice from all.
Special thanks to T.P.; I will email you soon.

Great Tinman! Glad to hear it's looking up for you. As I said before, I don't know a lot about Eagle, I've heard good things about the truck division but not van. Hopefully, as you learn their system, your income will go up and stay up!

Thats real great to hear Tinman!! I now know from experience (well mine anyways) That when dispatch gets to know you're reliable and DON'T turn down trips the runs come alittle quicker I've been makin 3 in an area and then bango the Qualcom goes off go figure! Plus having a repoir with a couple of them on the offshift really helps. I've often P/U a hot run when being 5 cuz they know I am going to take it especially if it's a crappy run ( dispatch isn't going to call 4 others at 3am only to get refused they call ME )and somehow the next one is a good one ( I wonder why).I think I am more aggressive than alot of the others Cause I pester dispatch (in a good way) I'll ask one of my favs whats cookin and whats leftover on the prebooked and snatch it out before the time call!!! hehehe
EXAMPLE: Just got my oil changed yesterday after an 18,243 KM 19 day period and most of them paid miles!! No wonder JUJU and I are bushed.
EXample of runs: Manning SC,with BH,Arkansas City Ark, with BH, Rapid City SD,with BH, Philly, with BH Conway Ark, with BH, Chicago, with BH, Montreal twice with BH!!! Did not include various runs to Detroit area and locals around here
Bottomline!! Be ready to go, Stay available, know your dispatch and keep your vehicle clean and maintained!!

Appreciate all the encouragement and advice. OntarioVanMan: all that you say is wise and true in this industry. I began practicing dispatch relations from the start (picked up from reading all the archives). The other two van drivers seem to be "spoiled", and turn down runs, etc. And, obiously, team van driving opportunities are even much better than solo.

This can be a discouraging business sometimes Tinman, we all need a lift at times. early last week me and JuJu just got our shoes off and relaxed at our puters after the Dakota trip, bout 3 hours into our getting ready for bed the phone rings, It's dispatch they say you ready to go? I says Huh?? Where? When? They say we're just quoting a team run to Arkansas for delivery tomorrow afternoon leaving NOW!! You want it they ask?? We were out the door so quick !!!!! :0)
