Blew way to much time off work and just came back last night but we did real well in the grass lake area on the ducks,,,Lots of teal and woodys...this was properly the first year we ripped so many teal off this pond..Mallards where good also but they where few in between on the opener down here, but worked in good after that,,Took one of the Nice's drake mallards I ever shot,,was actually thinking of taking it in for a mount but ended eating him instead that evening...Only numbers I can put to print would be what I lost by not working so Ill leave that alone:D
I didn't make any openers up north but my brother and his kid did ,,they did good for the first two days then it shut off on em,,,he thinks they where taking mostly local birds up there and thats why it shut off so fast..
Geese...also fairly well for the early season ,,,only had two days off for that,,,Not the best start but we took between 5 guns better then 30 birds..
Now its back to work until the flight birds start to show up...

I gotta mention my dog,,she did real well for the first 3 days,,some nice retreives (and a few I had to go get)..4th day she couldnt hardly walk so I left her home alot of muck and standing brush for her to work. I was proud of the way she worked this year..it was a long time coming,,,now shes getting old on me

Glad to hear you are starting off good. The divers are NOT down here as yet. They normally show up starting around the 20th of Oct. There have been a few early redheads on the lake (redheads and ruddys normally show up first) but not enough to make it worth while to set up for them. I was home for 2 days last week and got my one man layout over to my buddies house in preperation of our hunts in Nov. I will most likely start hunting the Lake around the 18th of Nov. I can hardly wait!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean.I would LOVE to take off ALL of Nov and Dec!!! The tradintional BEST day on the River is Oct. 31st. That has slipped back a week or two in the past 2-3 years. Give me a shout after the 18th of Nov. Maybe I can get you out for a layout hunt.

Okee Dokee!! I will be home from the 12th through the 29th of Nov. Back is service on the 30th. Lot's of possible last chances to hunt with some people this year and I will NOT miss out on them. While I need the money there are some things that I HAVE to do while I still can. Once freinds or family are gone so is the chance to make more memories.
