It's that time of the year again .
with diesel providers now going to the winter bland . the new diesel fuel will clean out the fuel tanks and fuel lines .
all that Junk will end up in the fuel filter .
a plugged fuel filter can cost a lot of money in fuel consumption .
Ya'h ,a plugged fuel filter will actually make the engine burn more fuel .

it is also a good idea ,to learn how to replace the filter by your self ,practice it when the weather is still warm ,and have all items needed to do so in the truck.

diesel ...it's what for dinner ...

Moose,

This is even more important for the diesel van owners to keep their fuel filters changed. Believe me.. it is NOT fun to try to change it by yourself, when it's like 10 degrees.

Moose,
That filter unit needs a special wrench unless you want to be stuck on the side of the road. Davco is the filter maker and it is a primary filter.

Remember to "drain" your filter regularly, including the one in the picture.

For that one, loosen up the top of the unit just a bit, and then open up the drain and count to 2, then shut it.

Also if you have a Davco or Racor filter, check to see if it is fitted with a heater and check to see if that is working.

Van filters are easy  it is when the heater in the filter fails that makes it a problem.

"the new diesel fuel will clean out the fuel tanks and fuel lines."

Not if you've been using Power Service or Howes Meaner Cleaner in every tank. The lines and tank will already be clean.
