Ok one fill up 23.6 mpgs--- next 18.2mpgs---next 22.8mpgs.
All same driving conditions. I suspect hot fuel.

Well did you buy your fuel where?

and

Did you fill on the hot time of the day?

And

Well never mind, you have a sprinter and can't tell.

I can tell you that the idea of hot fuel reducing engine power does not happen when the fuel cools down.

Flying J in S. Beloit and it was about 5pm.

From the J. went to Madison Wi. and then I fueled again in Waterloo, Iowa only a couple hundred miles.

Fueling in the late afternoon is about the worst time to fuel. First thing in the morning is about the best. That could have had something to do with it although I don't know if it could be as significant as your numbers indicate.

I just don't fuel at the J unless it is impossible to go somewhere else because of the hot fuel issue. I like their coffee but that's about it.

Last year a friend of mine with an RV fueled at the FJ in Albuquerque
NM. The outside temp was 58, the fuel coming out of the pump was 105.He said the nozzele was literally hot and this guy is somewhat of a agaitator so he got a thermometer to measure the fuel, then bitched to FJ with no results. Fuel expands in volume when it's hot then reduces in volume when it cools down,so the pump may indicate 100 gallons but you actually only received 98.8 or so. Add that up for a whole month and the FJ folks get a nice bonus.

We had issues with hot fuel from Flying J in Waco but so far that's been the J we seem to have had any variance.

YUK...I don't like J coffee, tastes burnt every time. Give me Pilot coffee...Kenya King please ;)
