We have a Rig Master and during the winter we plug the block heater into the generator. Everytime the generator starts to warm us up it also warms the motor. As the weather gets colder us and the engine stay toasty warm!

We very seldom have any trouble starting our truck due to cold.

Our block heater switch is wired into the sleeper. To "plug it in" I don't even have to get out of bed. I just reach over and flip the switch. If we know we will be sitting for a while, we leave the switch off to reduce the load on the generator.

One of the things I like about our Volvo engine is the oil pan heater that activates with the engine block heater. When the engine starts, both the coolant and the engine oil are warm. The oil pan heater was a factory option ordered with the truck. Also ordered was the preheater that heats the intake air on a cold start.

We run elec. cord under the door to an inside plug. When needed, we "plug it in" to a dedicated outlet...not quite like a switch but I don't have to get out of bed. Then after I do my pre trip, I simply unplug and start her up...works every time. I couldn't quite justify a switch since I have get out of the truck to pre-trip anyways.
