Pedals has his own Facebook page, run by concerned "animal lovers" who want to
trap him and "rescue" him and send him to a sanctuary, because of his injured right front leg where he's missing a paw. They have appealed to politicians, the press, as many celebrities as they can think of, and even the Internet with a petition signed by more than 300,000 names (almost none of which are from New Jersey), but the New Jersey Department of Fish and Wildlife won't budge. They feel he's fine, very healthy, and has been for at least 2 years since his injury.

Joey Esposito, the man behind the Facebook page and the drive to rescue this "poor, injured bear who seems so human" has been told repeatedly by the NJDFW that he cannot feed wild, roaming animals, and that he cannot trap and rescue the bear.

The bear lives in the mountains NW of NYC where NJ, PA, and NY state meet in northern Jersey. Wildlife officials have been monitoring him for quite some time.

It is amazing how he looks like a human wearing a bear suit when he walks.
