wal-mart parking info

The link took me to a site featuring an "RValue" book, (for RVs) published by Cottage Time Industries. The book has locations and maps for WalMarts & Sam's Clubs, but I don't think it's an official WalMart stamp-of-approval guide - not even the atlas sold for $5 at WalMart, listing all the stores, is that. Some store managers will allow it, and some won't. Some city codes prohibit overnight parking, even if WalMart doesn't. So you just have to call ahead & ask, or cruise by and look, to determine if you can park overnight.
(Note: if you arrive latenight, and the outer lot is full of RVs, all parked at a 90 degree angle to the marked spaces, just remember: those RV people will all take off very early in the morning - if you sleep past 8, you're gonna be the only one sitting there , looking pretty stoopid!)

OK some may jump on me but I never asked permission. In the Military when you asked permission you would be told NO. If you went ahead and did it you were told "Do not do it again".

The only Walmarts I ever got chased out of were is Southern Ca and hell you get chased out of every place there. I preferred 24 hour Krogers,Winn Dixies ,Mejers etc,I would park off in a corner and never had problems.

Easier to apologize than ask for permission...

If there are signs that say "No Trucks" we won't park there. If there are no signs, then we will park as far to the back as possible. We've never been chased out, but we've never pushed the limits either.

There have been times that this is the only place to park without driving for a good bit.
So I approach, signs or not.
I usually approach the manager or assistant manager. I have had much more positive results
than not.
This is one where it IS better to ask permission that for forgiveness...

I think part of the problem with no parking at some Walmarts listed below:
1.Some throw out trash
2.Urinating
3.Dragging trailer wheels through the landscape
4.Parking across the intended roadways
5.Parking too close to the building
Just some I have observed. I try to park as far out of the way as possible. I have even picked up trash and put it in the back of my truck until I get to a place to dispose of it. I appreciate the parking and try to leave it like I found it or better. I thing if we all would the no parking signs would come down. But who knows, may have gone to far in some instances.

It's the same as described above, published by Cottage Time Industries - and it doesn't offer anything more than the atlas you can get at any WalMart for $5, which also lists the locations of every WalMart and Sam's Club in the 48 states, and whether they have a Tire & Lube, pharmacy, hair salon, etc It's a lot more money than need be spent, if you need to find a WalMart!
For that matter, "The Next Exit" sold at Flying J for $15 lists all the same info, and a lot more besides:eek:

I always asked the manager at a Wal-Mart if it was alright to park overnight in his lot AFTER purchasing items we needed. Seemed to go alot smoother if he/she saw that we'd patronized their business.
I'd always try to ask where he/she preferred me to park to make sure I was out of the way of everyone. And let them know when I expected to leave.
Only once was I asked to leave, but it wasn't only trucks. The local police were asking everyone to leave this certain part of the lot for some reason. trucks, cars, rv's.......if I remember right, that was in Oregon.
Just a little advice though..........if your going thru Arnold Mo.......which is just south of St. Louis on I-55.........DON'T.........I repeat........DON'T even think of going in the Wal-Mart there if your in a straight truck......It's the most screwed up parking lot I've ever seen!! VERY difficult to get a straight truck in and out. Their firm believers of cement dividers and have most of the lot sectioned off in small squares. Easy for cars, nightmare for straight trucks!!!!!! beep, beep, beep, look out, I have to back up one more time so I can make the corner into the next section. Let's see, where the heck was that entrance/exit again??? :) How did it get way over there!! Wasn't that far when I drove in!! LOL

Walmart has always been a good place to go to, but slowly but surely some jerk always messes it up. I just saw at our local Walmart that some newb took out one of the lightposts, and there was a bunch of trash dumped around the lot. I look for signs to go up soon.

Then there was the van driver laying under his van changing his oil in the parking lot....................

And these guys will be the first ones to bit*h.
I am sitting in a Walmart now in Memphis. If I can't continue to park in Walmarts then there will be another truck for sale. No truck stops for me. To much crap going on there for an ol man like me.

Any reason you couldn't park in the lot of a grocery store? Or Super KMart? If bathroom facilities aren't needed, there's a LOT of places, like Lowe's, Home Depot, even a mall - especially if you get up & go in the morning. (No pun intended :p)
I parked last night in the lot of a Winn Dixie, and no one bothered me. :)
