WAKE UP AMERICA!

Wake up America! It is time we take our country back. A government for the people, of the people, and by the people. We can not only do this. We have to do this.

The political process is yours and mine and it is time we let the current powers that be in Washington know this. The powers that be in Washington must be the people of this great nation. Not the special interest groups and thugs of the world.

There was an anti litter campaign started in Texas back in the 1970’s that its slogan was and still is “Don’t Mess With Texas”. I am sure any one having driven through the state has seen the signs along the roadways. I would like to borrow from this campaign and say DON’T MESS WITH THE U.S. It is time we get the litter and trash out of Washington. This can be done by voting.

The candidates for President this year has left us with little to be desired. I personally don’t feel as though there is much of a choice from either the Republican or Democratic parties. I see this country going down the tubes with either of these two being elected. It would happen a lot faster with Housain Obama being in office, but it would still happen albeit a little slower with McCain in office. This leaves us with the choice of a write in vote.

We the people can send Washington a strong message by not voting for either of the above candidates. But instead vote a write in candidate. Win, lose, or draw if enough people do this the message will be received that the American people are fed up with politics as usual. They should realize they are our employees and they can be replaced if they don’t do there job.

Who would make a good write in candidate for President? I am not sure at this point, but one possibility would be Senator Joe Lieberman (Independent). But who ever your choice is. Lets shake up Washington by sending them a strong message by voting a write in candidate.

You may have hit on something very important.

Both candidates have their issues. But, as you indicated...McCain would give us more opportunity to improve America. I liked what Ted Nuggent said on Glenn Beck about a month ago. This isnt a quote, I am paraphrasing. But, Ted basically said he felt we should vote for McCain, then stay in his butt. Push and pull his administration and congress regarding the issues you feel are important to the people.

OR

You can vote for the candidate Joe Lieberman has endorsed, instead of wasting a vote this late in the game.

There was a little debate on one of our news shows last evening, talking about this: YouTube - Opie Taylor Richie Cunningham The Fonz for Barak Obama
Basically, they were making fun of a country who would stoop to having famous celebrities on tv promoting their chosen candidate for the future president, as if it's the same as touting a preferred soap brand.
Also, recently I was at a hairdressing salon, looking through the gossip rags, and saw a picture of your presidential candidate in a bathing suit. Call me wrong, but I don't recall seeing any other presidents' half naked photos in magazines before.
It's pretty bad when a major presidential candidate has to go for the glam and fame to get the stooopid vote, versus winning based on the country's issues.
What has this world come to?

Are you talking about McCain or Obama? They
are running for President, not Sarah Palin. If you
happen to be talking about a photo of a
women in a blue, red, white star 2 pc swim suit,
that was NOT Sarah Palin. It was another womens
body with her head transposed.
Although I did see where a news media went all
the way back to when Sarah Palin was in a beauty
contest many years ago and they had a picture of her
in a one pc swim suit. Now back to the ? which
candidate are you speaking of?

IRT... neither Capt Kangaroo nor Mr. Rogers were in the military. We've had this discussion before. Snope, my friend.

Sparticus... the only wasted vote is the one not cast. I'm tired of hearing that I wasted my vote for Perot, or that I'd waste it if I voted for 'none of the above'. How bout this... If you don't vote your conscience, you're wasting your conscience. Yeah... I like that better.

If you compare candidates to diseases Obama is terminal brain cancer and McCain is drug resistant tuburculosis. I really would not like either one but the TB can still be treated with great effort. The real power and problems are in the House and Senate. Vote every incumbent out!!! Don't matter which party just vote them out if they are in today. Then look into a tax revolt. Take away thier monopoly money and you take away thier power. WE have to start controling them or they will rule us. Do you really want to be ruled? Layoutshooter

There is a proposition on the ballot in SD concerning Term Limits for state legislators...

My sister-in-law is against term limits...Reasoning?

It is not mentioned in the Constitution for a reason...For the people , by the people...It is up to the "people" to vote out the unwanted and undeserving...the peoples Right! Not to be legislated by legislators...There is enough government interference in the peoples right...If the candidate is doing a good job determined "by the people" Then they are in...if not it is the "peoples" duty to vote them out. It is the right of the "people" to determine the length of office.

Term limits in a state legislature is not a constitutional issue. Those powers not relegated to the federal government are relegated to the states.

I would say we need term limits on feds, tho. The president has them; why not Congress? Yes, the good would continue to do good, if continuously reelected. On the other hand, ppl like Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy could continue to mold their corruption over many decades, and put a chain of control on their committees until they die.
