Yeah, I noticed a difference, also she sounds more electronically generated than usual.

Now if they can do something with that woman that reads the announcements and other info on the phone, THAT would be real progress. ( I mean c'mon, she sounds so BORED)

I had my first taste of this last night. I did feel as if I could understand the names of the cities easier.

I am not pleased with the new voice. I agree it sounds very mechanical. Contrary to what others have said, I find it to be slow. Waiting for the next piece of information is like pulling teeth. I find this to be the case on almost all options like 2-6, and 2-8 in particular. The only time that I have noticed the speed being too fast is when they rattle off the load opportunity number.
It is all a computer program, so I am sure it can be tweaked. The sooner the better.

I wish the clink voice would stop reading the numbers as blank blank million etc. trying to listen to a load offer by voice is very frustating. I have to find a safe place to pull over in order to read it. I would love to have the old system back. The GPS is only good when you get near the del. since my tom tom does not tell me if the business is on the right or left hand side and at night I have difficulty finding numbers on the buildings. The clink gps does tell you look for the location on the right or left. I also like knowing what my arrival time is on my gps, this one does not do it, tom tom does.

We have noticed that more msgs seem to be ''getting lost" than with the old system. The last two days have been really bad. Only had one chance to have them "poll" me. I was on I80 in PA and FDCC said we were on I90 in NY state. Don't know if it was a fluke or not. Time will tell. The keyboard is far too small for may old fat fingers and I can hardly hear the "windows tone" when a msg comes in. I was told that is a common complaint and the only fix is to have it wired in to your radio speakers or try attaching an external speaker. Sure would like the old, much louder, BEEP back. Don't use the voice, very annoying.

Been testing the gps against 3 others, fair at best. Too small to be of any real value in my opinion. More accurate than Delorme, finds addresses better too. No where near as accurate as the Rand.

This is the tale of the Bimbo and the Geek.
The Bimbo, my old TomTom loaded with a sexy female
voice vs the Geek who tries to win you over with saying
as much as she knows about everything in 10 seconds or less.:D

The Bimbo is holding her own against the Geek.
The Bimb has routed us shorter a couple of times.
An example, heading west on I80 going to vegas,
the Geek wanted us to stay on 80 to 215 then go south
to Denver.
The savvy sexy Bimbo routed us onto I76 saving us a cool
60 miles.
The Geek does keep us away from non truck routes. That is
something the Bimbo cant do.
All I can say is:
WARNING WARNING WARNING WILL ROBINSON:eek:

We have found the GPS to be a waste of time and do not bring up that screen. If a person did not have a GPS I am sure it would be nice.

Compared to our very old Lowrence GPS and our Rands the QC GPS just takes up space.

My new Motto "You can never have to many GPS's in a truck" and my dash proves it!

LOL!! I know what you mean. We have a 7" Rand on the left, a 5" Rand on the right and Delorme running on our laptop in the middle. the QC one sits on the floor. No were to put that thing yet.

The only thing I can say good about the Clink GPS is that I can get started faster when on a load. I just click on the "dispatch button" and it loads the routing. Other than that there is little use for the thing.

We were one of the test trucks before FECC decided to buy these units, and on the test unit they did mount it with a small external speaker as if they already knew it was a problem.

When the test unit was removed,we got to keep the speaker. The speaker is one very similar to the ones that you see in the truckstops, but I would think that you could get a better price at Radio shack.

Just what I need, more wires and junk all over the place. Heaven forbid that they FIX the problem. I have to pay for this junk, it should work RIGHT without the extra junk.

Oh c'mon! The new VRU voice is real sexy in a Rosanne Barr sort of way. You just have to think positive...real...real positive! Ok well may be not the hottest voice on the planet but at least better than lisitening to a voices like Arnold Swartzenager or Mr 'T'. etal. I can here it now. "Hey you sucker, you have a load opportunity" or "go ahead and make my day," accept the load! Nothing ever stays the same these days.
