Diane and I met relatives who live in the area and visited the Biltmore House in Ashville, NC yesterday. Admission is $45 each and well worth the price. The staff is guest friendly and parking for straight trucks and tractors is readily available. Stop first at the welcome center to get your tickets and truck parking instructions.

This photo was taken shortly before sundown and after the house had closed. Most visitors were gone leaving us with the place to ourselves. The truck hides a no parking sign. When I asked the staff about posing the truck for a photo like this, they were all for it and told me exactly how to do it.

The Biltmore House is one of the best tourist stops we have ever done. The house, gardens, winery and farm were all amazing.

Awesome picture! We have wanted to go there often but were under the impression a commercial truck could get no where near the place.

Great information and a great picture.

Nice photo! Thanks for the info I too didn't think a truck could even get close to the place.

My sister and I went there in March and spent 2 days touring the place. The first day we took our time touring the house, grounds, and all the other out buildings. The second day, we took the roof top and the behind-the-scenes tours. It was incredible and well worth every penny we spent. The place is absolutely amazing.

Awesome picture, maybe FedEx will use it in the next ad campaign? $45.00 dollars is steep but sounds like it is well worth it.

I put a slide show of our visit up on my web site. No house interior shots are included as photos are prohibited inside the house.

After a day away from the Biltmore House, Diane and I are already ready to go back. Wingnut did it right, taking in the attraction and then taking it in again and again. Self-guided audio tours are also available. We did pay the extra money to do that but now wish we had.

Last night, we talked through the many tourist attractions we have taken in over the years. The Biltmore is easily one of the best.

Trucker Visitor Notes:

The house is not air conditioned. A visit on a cool, dry day is preferred. The house is open 364 days a year. On a busy day, it is best to arrive early and start at the winery as crowds build there first. The roads are narrow and tree limbs long. Some tree branches are unavoidable. Bus and RV parking areas at each location on the estate are well marked.

The estate is in Ashville, North Carolina, near I-40, Exit 50 (US-25). Proceed south on US-25, less than one mile, to Biltmore Estates Drive and turn left into the grounds. Watch for the sign that points to RV and bus parking. It is an immediate right upon entering the grounds. Park your truck there and check in with the people in the office. A map and truck parking info will be provided there.

We happen to have two complimenatary tickets that are good through July, 2010. If you are going to be at the Expedite Expo and know for sure you will visit the Biltmore in that time, the tickets are yours. Let me know by private message that you would like them and we will give them to you at the show. First come, first serve.

We took time to ask the curators lots of questions and found out that the reason you aren't allowed to take pics inside the house is beacuse of all the tapestry. The flash from a camera is equilivant to a sun's rays and will fade the tapestry. I also found it amazing that the owners still come to the house & grounds several days a week and blend in with the tourists. They want and expect no special treatment. The story & history of the place is awesome. I was sooo glad that I spent the estra $$$$ on the BILTMORE history book. After taking the tours then reading the book, it made me feel like I was actually there all those years ago.

At around 6pm Tuesday evening I spotted an awesome fedex truck with a flag on the side headed north bound on I71 in Kentucky. Your windows are tinted really dark, but I saw your truck. I was headed south bound :D

Tinted windows, yes. Dark, no. If you look close at the photo above, you can see the green grass while looking simultainously through both the side window and the windshield. Dark tinted windows would obscure the grass.
