Ceva's Sprinters are all O/O's where this looks like Pitt's are company owned.

Why would Pitt decide to do this? The reasons they give in the video are valid, but I doubt they are the only reasons. They also would be aware that logs are not required, but for local deliveries within a city commercial zone, that would not be a huge issue. Since they do not mention any Sprinters going OTR, I suspect it to be not only cost cutting on the equipment side, but on the employee side as well. No CDL is required, less hourly pay for the driver who is probably part time, and reduced benefits to the driver if any are given at all.

What struck me in addition to the obvious is what is said about congestion at consignee docks. Much is being said in the HOS arguments about holding shippers and consignees liable for delays at their docks. Could this be a way to identify this problem and put a face on it? Maybe, but whatever the reasons are, it looks like a smart move.

The video shows the older body style Sprinters. I would be interested to know if Pitt has any of the new body style and if so, how they are handling the parts availability situation. I also imagine the so called Sprinter Killer manufacturers will be knocking on Pitt's door soon.
