November 11th is Veterns Day. That is the day that we remember all of those men and women who served this Country both in peace and war to defend our way of life. Let us all forget, just for one minute, thier dedication and sacrifice. They gave us our freedom. Some with there lives, thier health, or thier sanity. Some were "forced" into service by the draft. Some volunteered. Many families gave many to the cause. Reguardless of your political beliefs you own them your lives. Let us honor them.

I would like to see any and all vets in here give a brief outline of your service. Please feel free to include family memebers.

Please no ridicule. Those who served earned your respect. I wll start it off. Not because I did more or less than most but just as an idea of what needs to be honored. Thank you all, you earned it.

Joseph A. Marra Sr. Served in WW2. He served in China, Burma and India. He served as a radio and radar operator often calling in air stikes over his head. He is my dad.

Joseph Midlick. Served in the U.S. Army in the Europian Theater in WW2. My Uncle.

Mike Midlick. Served with General Patton in Europe. A tanker. My Great Uncle.

John Marra. Served with General Patton as a Medic. Awarded the Bronze Star for bravery under fire.

Several other familly members, Canada's and Marra's who never lived to see the end of WW2.

Frank Zarozak. My Uncle. Served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Charles Landman. My Uncle. Served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and peace time. Died saving the lives of 2 others on a snow covered runway on Bunker Hill Air Force Base in 1962.

My self. Served in the Army Security Agency and the National Security Agency for 20 years.

Joseph A. Marra III. My son. Serving now. Decorated twice in Iraq.

John Marra Jr. My nephew. Serving now. Awarded the Bronze Star for bravery in Iraq.

Please, toot your horn a bit. I want to know. You earned a bow. No matter how you feel about your service you are owed a debt. Stand proud. No service was too small. Everyone who served did us all a service. No need to feel ashamed. This is the time to let it be known. Those of us who served honor you. My family honors you. Thank you.

Please, nothing but a bit of "braggin" from those who served. I like to think that I am not alone. I really want to know what you did. I hope we all do. Stand proud and tall today, you earned it. Thanks from one who served with you. We are brothers and sisters in service. Layoutshooter

OKAY!! My dad (who is still kicking) joined the MARINES at the age of 14 (lied to get in)along with his father signing the papers.. at age 15 MARINES found out-- he had passed BOOT camp-- they let him stay in and sent him straight to the PACIFIC, then to N KOREA and was one of a very FEW who made it out!! He was in Communications- IN N Korea he learned Chinese and intercepted Chinese locations - GOT CHASED daily in the FRIDGET weather(-50) and couldn't drop his radio, while the CHINESE chased him non-stop ( capture the radio/torture)!! Then he became a member of the ORIGINAL 1st SPECIAL FORCES and straight to OKINAWA- Vietnam before the French left and was funded with Covert/CIA with that same RADIO out AHEAD of EVERYONE ELSE decoding NORTH Vietnamese locations!! I SALUTE HIM!!

He retired after last tour Vietnam 1968 Ft. BRAGG NC 7th Special Forces,Then stayed at Ft. Bragg Civil SERVICE telephone comminication's 20yrs. and ended up in DELTA JCT, AK -50 degree's again!! Now he's on the mountain top Blairsville Ga...

my grandfather who passed away in the late 90's served in ww2
left his wife and children behind to
sail on a boat out of the NY harbor to France that took 3 weeks to get there
he was 21 yrs old and I think was gone for 3 yrs. When I was around 20 and found this out what an amazing respect I gained for all of our vets whether they are in in peace time or war time, they are doing something that I dont think that I could do their service is just absolutely amazing

Between my dad and my mom's side there were 11 men who went to WW2. That included all my uncles and all my aunt's husbands; my dad, 4 uncles and 6 uncles by marriage. Out of the 11 who went all 11 came back safely. One of my uncle's wrote a short essay about the war. If anyone is intereste it can be found here: A Radioman's Story of WWII

Hubby....21 years Nuclear Machinist Mate, Engineering Laboratory Technician on Submarines. Retired Jan 2001

Middle son- Joined Army July 2001, MP 82nd AirBorne, Ft. Bragg, NC 2 Iraq tours and got out in 2006. Now a deputy in Collier County FL

God Bless our troops and their families. Thank you Veterans for your service.

Tonight I will take a few seconds and bow my head and say my prayers are with all of those that are serving this country and for those that are serving this country that are in harms way, Let each and everyone one of you be watched over by your Angels assigned. I thank each of you whole heartedly for your service and un wavering dedication and sacerfice that you are making for this country. God bless all of You.

For those that have served and since been relieved from the watch I commend your service and thank you as well !! God bless you!!! For Service and Sacerfice to this great Nation.

For those that for some reason could not serve for one reason or another I thank you for your support in supporting our troops, and thank you for the Gift of Hope you have given those that are serving or have served.

God Speed to all of You!!!!!

My grandma's great-uncle was a Captain in the Union during the Civil War. Her cousin died at Pearl Harbor. My dad was a paratrooper/cook during the late 50s/early 60s. He didn't see action, tho he spent the night on a flight line during the Cuban Missile Crisis. My sis retired from the Marines a couple years ago. Another sis spent 8 yrs in the Marines. I served 5 yrs in the Marines based out of Stewart ANGB in Newburgh, NY. Went to Sand Box I, where I drove a bus and built bombs.

I've always thought that a two year mandatory service was a good idea. Instilling discipline in someone 18 yrs old might keep a lot of young men out of trouble; and give them a sense of duty and honor.

US Coast Guard from June 1965 to June 1969. Keeping the lights lit, the tourists from drowning themselves, and defending this great nation from Canadian invasion. Then there were my brothers, Bob 32nd Infantry- Korea 1951 to 1953. Bill 20 years Army, Vietnam 1967 to 1968. Dick, 3 years Army Anti Aircraft Nike Tech. David, 2 years Army Anti Aircraft Japan. Thanks Guys, you were my heros.
