Saw an ad for Velocity Logistics in the latest Expedite Now. I've never run into these people before. Kinda makes me feel like I've been on some other planet. Anyway, anyone know anything about them?

I think they are very regional and stay within a metro area or state at best.

I'd consider Velocity if I lived in a warmer climate. I'm not sure where you live, but if can't take the cold, I wouldn't work for Velocity. You are given a route, delivering pharmacuetical (sp?) products. In Flint, Michigan they have this warehouse you're in for about 2 hours sorting things out. This warehouse had about 16 overhead doors being opened/closed at various times.

You have a route ya then deliver to. They pay ya depending on the size of the route. I know the route that I was going to do paid like $70/day. That would have been for about 5-6 hours work. I found out from another driver that the same route had previously paid $110 or something & that's why the driver quit & the position was open.

Despite the paycuts for various routes, most of the complaining by the drivers was about how cold it was those 2 hours sorting out the pallets to load onto the truck. From my understanding people are sick quite a bit in the wintertime. I guess there's a fair amount of lifting, though nothing extremely heavy. The lifting might be similar to what a UPS driver would do. It's actually something I'd consider if I lived further south, but not here in Michigan.

Advantages are you're usually done by noon or so. Leaving the rest of your day free. The pay, despite the paycuts, isn't to awful bad. I'm not sure the pay could support a family, but it could support a single person.
