van rates??

I just obtained a cargo van as an o/o. What are the average rates charged for van runs. Thanks

I'm confused? Should'nt you found out that info before buying the van? Or are you just fishing for info?

Skeeter, I too would hope that you are just looking for info to see if you can do better than the company to which you are leased. If that's the case, check out the various recruiters to see what they can do for you. It seems as though there is no quantifiable van average because of the myriad variables, pay schedules and accounting techniques used by so many different carriers, owners and operators. Might be some good numbers in the Expedite Now ads as well as some of these past posts on this site. Good luck

A better way to phrase it might be " What are rates paid ? " You won't be the one setting the rate . You'll be accepting a rate that has already been determined .

I've been shopping my cargo van around. I have heard anything from 72 cents a mile (plus surchage) to about .95 a mile but they don't pay deadhead. Right now my van gets 65% of the run. They won't quote less than 1.35 a mile. Problem is, for every paid mile the van will dead head a mile.

All types seems to have a good deal, 77 cents a mile, plus surcharge and from what I have found they are one of the few signing vans right now. Now sure how busy they will keep you. The fellow I spoke with seemed pretty honest, he told me flat out Minnesota was a hard start for them to find stuff going to, or coming out of knowing that was not what I wanted to hear (I am based out of mn). The thing that worries me is that I have been on the road for close to a year and I have never seen a truck or van with their name on it.

thank you for confirming all the red flags that went up Like I said, it seemed odd that they where signing vans and what not and no one else was. I'll dig in the archives a bit more to see what I was in for.
