derailed diner con't

the interior booths and counter are all unique. this is a transportation themed eatery. there are booths that we tables on the tailgate of a p-u truck with a tv in the wall. the kitchen was inside a school bus mock-up.

yes, you see it correctly. the last stool at the counter is a saddle. there is also, on the other end the passenger seat from a harley, a couple movie seats, a couple airline seats and actual round stools.

we had a weekend where we went from wisc to el paso and el paso to ohio. on the way down we stopped in joplin at the sultan of smoke for some very tender and filling rib dinners. sorry no pix(what was i thinking??).

on the way back we stopped at a place terry o told me about in o fallon il, the 17th st bar and grill kinda right off i 64. their specialty is ribs. the sides included spinich(i need the iron), sweet potato, mixed grilled veggies and green beans.

h7 on your michigan map of the lp

last nite we delivered to boyne city mi. asked the fella at the c'nee where we could eat in town. he said...if i was going out for dinner i would go to the red mesa grille. so we did.

not just another mex place. the fare included entrees from brazil, argentina, peru and a carribbean menu also. lots of maggies of all mixtures and costs, none of which passed our lips.

the salsa was home made and the chips hot and salty. virgin pina colada and faygo root beer.

the argentina steak with smashed potato and red chilli chimmichura sauce and grilled veggies. one was very filling.

then we added a slice each of key lime pie that made the juices run in the throat. too much food!!

while i was posting the photos above we were asked to leave the place i was posting in. it was the water street cafe in boyne city. it was 630 and they closed at 8 pm. the lady owner told gracie they were expecting a dinner rush and we had to vacate our table(gracie was knitting and i was not supposed to be plugged into the power in the front window).

there were exactly 4 tables in use at that time of the 22 available so its not like we were keeping diners from sitting down.

i thought a cafe was a place to relax and eat.

WE had the pleasure of dinning at this place as well, Very Good food and the place was clean. They also have unique shops/shopping as well.

I will say the outside does not look that inviting but inside was a refreshing break from the norm.
