You got THAT right! Bet he was one of those "Jackweeds" that holds the handgun sideways and try to "Push" the bullet out faster!

I know I should not be surprised by these stories, but come on, this one is REALLY STUPID!

I was in Gander Mountain the other day and one of the salesmen behind the counter was telling a young female customer that all a .22 is good for is "pi**ing somebody off"; of course she knew nothing about guns and he was trying to sell her a Sig P238 for about $600. Of course he's as dumb as she is because he didn't realize that more people are killed every year with .22s than all other calibers combined. I'll bet this Mitchell guy and his homie are really pi**ed off right about now. Stupid is as stupid does.

600 is high for a Sig P238. We paid much less for ours. A .22 is not a good self defense gun. Yes, they can, and do, kill, but they are not considered to be good for that role by any means. The .380, with proper ammo, is considered by most gun experts to be the smallest caliber that is effective for self defense.

My self, I would prefer not to stand in front of either. We both carry P238's when home. We load them with Hornady Critical Defense ammo. I use Speer Gold Dot in my Ruger SP101. It is a .357 and is not something you want to shoot all day long at the range.

The numbers don't lie. The .380 out performs the .22. Having said that, ANYTHING will do the job, some just have a better chance of doing it.

A .45 out performs a .380. You cannot get around physics. That Newton dude seen to that.

Got ours for just under 500, two years ago. I bought mine first, then my wife fired it. She sold her Bersa and bought a Sig. They handle nice. Sights are easy to see. I do the the extended magazine with the pinky extension. Fits my hand better. Gander tends to be high. I often find better prices at mom and pop shops.

I carry it this, the one for extended magazines has two loops for the belt. Rides nice on the hip.

More .22 pistol trivia: Gary Gilmore killed his victims with a Browning Challenger II .22 pistol. I happen to own one of those identical models I bought new in 1986. However, I would definitely go to something bigger for home of self defense.
