Typical Life of Batteries

If you clean your posts, and follow the lines to the starter, and frame how often would you do this, and what is the life span of the deep cell batteries this is what I am having installed. There should be a generator also.

Hey,
MY 2 cents worth.I've seen batteries last up to 5 years from date of purchase. BUT they are subject like anything else on a truck to heat cold & mainly Vibration which is usallly there downfall. Lead being knocked loose off the plates inside & accumalting in the bottom of the battery & finally shorting out the plates insiide the battery.
Keep your connections clean, have your batteries tested periodacally,
have your altenator also tested too by some one YOU TRUST. The voltage gauge can be a reliable info source.Check my post to Rich M.

Unfortunately I know people who are lucky to get a year out of there deep cycle batteries. Care and maintenance are critical and overcharging is biggest problem. Don't scrimp on your invertor and test the output of your charger. Good luck and let us know how it works out?

Part of my fall maintenance is to pull the batteries out for individual shop testing. At the same time, I clean and scrape the battery box and repaint as necessary. Then I wire brush the connecters and put a lubricant on them to maintain the connection clean until next year(vasoline). Then I check the alternator output, with partially discharged batteries, then after topping them off.

Doing this, I typically get 3 years and sometimes more.
