That's a lot like asking which car is liked better. It depends on if you ask a Ford or Chevy or Honda person. In trucks you see at least one FL for one of every other brand combined. I think that's partly similar to the pickup situation where after a couple of decades of huge sales by Ford/Chevy/Dodge finally Toyota/Nissan/Honda decided there was a market and got into it so now you see KW/Pete/Sterling and others doing expediters.
There are beginning to be a lot of class 8 expediters on the road. Most of them are a few years old and converted OTR tractors. As mentioned, the class 8 is going to hold up much better because it's built for a heavier job than expediting. A class 7 is running anywhere from 75% to sometimes almost 100% capacity where a class 8 is running below 50% most of the time.
I'd guess a class 7 with a rebuildable engine is good for 1-1.25 million miles before it's pretty well finished. A class 8 with a rebuildable engine is good for at least twice that and maybe 3 times that. The class 8 should have better resale at any given point as well.
