Truckers Guild Starts Anti-EBRO Campaign

Have to agree, EOBR's will do nothing for safety improvement, and very little for compliance.
addressing the link provided, i think they are making the same mistakes made south of the border by groups fighting EOBR's. they are complaining about the ability of such units to correctly monitors drivers duty statue - which will only result with more electronics been mandated.
( case in point, some ATA carriers already use in cab cams.)
but this statement goes a long way ..."Acceptable solutions will only be attained through prudent analysis of the problems affecting the industry and addressing those issues at the root cause." - BRAVO .
the E-logs are not the problems, the real problems are the HOS that do not allow for an EOBR mandate.
another problem is the supply chain. the supply chin needs to be FORCED to accommodate an E-Log mandate. so dose local jurisdiction for providing parking solutions for the trucks that serve their area.
when small business truckers will not be faced with parking restrictions, nor understaffed customers, and when the HOS will allow them to still run a business - then, and only then, they will support such mandate.

After reading this sentence in the Guilds statement.

Quote, EOBR's continue to require human interaction to report 'On Duty' and 'Off Duty' status and therefore 'Duty Status' will remain vulnerable to false entries regardless of the recording method. Quote

I thought what if a Judge would not allow information from the EOBR to be submitted as evidence in a trial or legal proceeding.

STOP FORCING THE GOVERNMEN INTO MY TRUCK AND HOME!!!!!!!

I think the status arguement is actualy from the pro big brother side. Case in point stated by Moose requiring cameras in the trucks to prove duty status and complyance. If they want E.O.B.R.s and more intrusion of our privacy, what better way then to get the anti E.O.B.R. group to screach they cannot be trusted.
On the surface it sounds like respect my privacy and it feels good to tell the government to step off but what is being clearly said is I cannot be trusted, I will cheat I will lie, its self its like a forced false confession hoping to make the problem go away plain and simple.
I want to tell those who want to ues that arguement to shut up and find a better arguement or they will get exactly what they are begging for, more invasion of privacy not less.

Scary thought yall brought up. EOBRs will not achieve the desired results and big brother will go back to the drawing board, resulting in who knows what.

Exactly what I said in my earlier post the pro E.O.B.R. side is winning by forcing the anti E.O.B.R. to say they are not able to be trusted in thier own words. Say it loud and say it proud!!!

Try saying the arguement to yourself or have somone say it to you and listen to how it comes out.
if you were all for big brother, that sounds like self incrimination to me.

The answer is the obvious SHUTDOWN SHUTDOWN and then SHUTDOWN again. If we want it to be a truckers market instead of a shippers market we ALL must shutdown. If we want cheaper fuel prices we all must shutdown. If we want to get rid of csa and change H.O.S. to what we need it to be we ALL must shutdown if we want to show this country how important trucking is we must shutdown it should happen very soon I think this should be co-organized with teamsters, ooida, EO, and others. We need to quit complaining and nip it in the bud or its just going to get worse. we have the power to do this and we can fix it if we all ban together and show the morons what time it is lets do this and get it right once and for all. We can get the price of freight up to what it should be we can get them to drop the price of diesel down below the price of gas as it should be. We can do this if we all stick together. O.K. i'm getting off my soapbox now. Sorry

A shut down looks good on paper, but now that we have the Mexican carriers with full and unlimited access to the U.S. they will just put a Mexican driver and pay him at most 5 cents a mile knowing that is extremely good money and turn the trucking industry into the farming industry. Ofcourse that is the ultimate goal.

So a shutdown today is nothingmore than a suicide pact.

Bob think about how long it would take to find A mexican for every truck and mexican O/Os would be broke in no time at all. Thats alot of seats to fill and alot of training to do in A very short period of time plus insuring and qualifiying. I believe they couldn't pull that off in time. I believe it would only take 3 days 5 max to get posiitve results. Remember when the N.Y.C. cabs shut down and left their cabs parked in the street blocking all lanes of traffic? Think about what would happen if every truck driver at the sme time parked on city streets, interstate ramps and interstates. there would not be enough time before the effects would be felt. Ziggy I understand the way you feel that it would never happen I believe if the right organizations were behind it including carriers and brokers it could they would have to understand that they would benefit from it also. It would take the right people with the tenacity and gift of gab to convince all the different mentalaties in trucking that it would benefit not only them but the whole country because if truck drivers had money to spend they would spend it i know i would.

Convince brokers? They make more money with our trucks than we will ever make. at 20 to 60 percent of the load it will be a hard sell for brokers.
Im all for rocking the boat in fact ffilpping it over. The big picture is there are enough Americians out of work and if a shut down were to take place training and safety will be the last priority. Money is always placed first. Case and point we have a dude in the white house serving as president that is untrained and cant even prove he belongs in our country and made the Mexican truck program law.

Parking in city streets would make the public hate trucks even more.
