Special “ATRI on the Air” Show Assesses Truck-Only Lanes
XM Radio Show Guests Include IN/DOT and MO/DOT Project Managers
Arlington, VA – On July 23rd, ATRI will be co-hosting a live 2-hour edition
of its “ATRI on the Air” XM Radio Show which will discuss and assess the
impacts and issues associated with Truck-Only Lanes. While Truck-Only
Lanes (TOLs) may provide the nation’s transportation system with critical
improvements in safety, efficiency and reduced congestion, there are many
issues that must be resolved including financial, geographic and political
challenges.
As the only major Truck-Only Lane study underway in the U.S., the I-70 TOL
project will be discussed in detail. The I-70 project managers from both
the Indiana and Missouri Departments of Transportation will participate.
Keith Bucklew, IN/DOT will provide important insight into the objectives
and activities of the four-state I-70 TOL study, and Bob Brendel, MO/DOT
will review the TOL study that Missouri recently completed.
Topics that will be discussed, among others, include TOL safety issues and
impacts; truck productivity improvements; TOL funding approaches and what
facilities and amenities are needed to maximize truck driver usage.
ATRI Vice President Dan Murray will co-host the show with Dave Nemo.
Callers are invited to pose questions and solutions related to Truck-Only
Lanes and their impact on trucking and transportation.
