Canada Truck Accidents

There were several trucks involved in an early morning accident in Toronto today that virtually shut the 401 going east. Reason for the accident was assumed speed on fast changing road conditions fromm wet to ice. A small amount of black ice formed as there was a flash freeze condition. So again as others have mentioned it before, slowdown in winter conditions and keep your distance if you can. Here as I'm sure in the northern states in the mid-west you get wind chill which can cause freezing on bridges and over culverts.

One other fun thing for all truckers. The Ontario MTO (ministry of transport) is on a blitz although not advertised. In the mississauga and other high truck traffic areas they are pulling over trucks like crazy. So make sure you're in compliance with lights, brakes, log books etc. BTW vans and pickup trucks are also being targeted.

Yeah, thanks for the info Rob. I think my solution is going to be trying to stay on I-10 all winter!

Easier said than done on the 401,everytime you try and leave enough space between you and the vehicle ahead you can bet that 2-3 four wheelers will fill the space.
