Trouble Filling E350 Tank

Anyone else having trouble filling their tank. Nozzle cuts off, repeatably often resulting in driveling away with 7/8 full tank. Some locations seem worse than others. Pump refused to go past the 1/2 full point at Pilot.
I have only been in this van for a week. Owner says previous drivers have not mentioned anything.
Must be me. I have tried holding the nozzle in various positions.

Most of the time this is one of two problems. Either the filler tube is kinked down further and is causing the vapor to cause the filler to click off, which is the most common problem, OR the vent line is doing that and not allowing the vapor to escape properly. When it's the vent line, which is just a open hose from the filler tube to allow air and vapors to escape, it's most often caused after the vehicle has been sitting for a few days or longer and a mud dauber has gotten up in there and plugged it up. Remove the vent hose and check it out. On newer vehicles the vent hose is a closed system and doesn't vent out to the air, so it's unlikely that a mud dauber got in there, but it could still be clogged with debris.

Had the same problem on my E-350. Sometimes it stops 1-2 times per filling, other times even 4 times per gallon. I fixed the problem buying a new van :D

I find that problem when the pumps have the new nozzle, that prevents topping off the tank, when it does work and kicks off it makes it hard to round off.

I've had that problem quite a bit. Usually it traces down to a nozzle that tries to fill way too fast. Some of these stations think we're filling Indy cars and it shows in fuel-flow speed.

Certain smog-control nozzles are really bad about cutting off early, one night in Missouri I had to abandon the attempt because the fuss-budget nozzle simply wouldn't allow me to fill-- at all-- without stopping every quarter gallon or so.

I've had the problem with Ford E-series vans, the Sprinter (not so much, it was more forgiving) and the Chevy 2500 I'm driving now.

Last night I tried filling at about half speed. Worked Ok. Is cleaning the vent tube a DIY job? The van did sit for about 15 days between drivers.

Yeah, it's a DIY. Takes a few minutes. I recall seeing a video on YouTube on how to do it. Think it was on a Toyota or something, but the principle is the same for all of them.
