I just read on an internet expedite forum that a guy said tristates is filing for bankruptcy protection. This guy was driving a peterbilt semi that said he is leased to tristates. I'm not sure if this is Tri-State Expedited out of Millbury, OH, Tri-State Motor Transit, out of Joplin, MO or Tristates Corectal ***. out of Pittsburgh, PA. I for one would sure think twice about signing on with any company that has "Tri" in their name. Unless of course it was "Try", as in try our whatever.

Thank you for the vote of confidence! :D

John Myself and some friends would love to join your family but every time I contact your folks sorry no van's currently. My friend has a box truck with quite a few years in the business. were just at the point that 70 cent a mile freight is driving us broke. Could you give us all a shout when you have some openings? Thank you sir. Mr Fred Brewer:)

Tri-State or Express-1? Well, I can say we have driven for both of them and both are very good carriers. We are currently with Express-1 and feel that although Tri-State is a good carrier, Express-1 is the better carrier. I guess it is all what you are looking for in a carrier. :)

Will do. Not sure when we will look at more vans. I think we will be slowly adding sprinters/cubes again in August. Cargo vans have been more of a struggle to keep them running the way we like to keep our units going.

John, one day many will get past the "screwing the pooch", no logging, no expense, no nuthin, gravitational pull of using a "toy truck" to get over on the system, and get a "real" truck so you can have a pool of candidates to toss or keep. I tho wonder when that might be.......seems each day a new batch of "pooch screwers" hatches.

Even on a limited budget, I would suggest a good used cube truck versus a van. Just my 2 cents.

That's a very valuable 2 cents.
Question though would the gas mileage difference be a deal killer?
I know the cube vans get about 10(dual rear wheel) I have no experience with the smaller single rear wheel, while a van gets 16 or so.

I thought about that too.

Right now, I believe Penske is selling 2006 or '07 SRW cubes, 12' by 80", but their GVWs are 8600 lbs. By the time you kit it out, it would weigh over 6500 lbs, so not much available payload. Hopefully soon, SRWs will be available @ 9600; if you're careful, you could do 3 skids @ 2500 lbs. Now, IDK what kind of fuel economy they get....

John , i'm a little confused , one of your better drivers told me by P M that YOU did NOT like CUBE vans and would not put any NEW drivers on with ONE . Also had one of the larger companies tell me 5 weeks ago they were NOT interested in any CUBE vans because of customers not wanting to use them for deliver of their products. But this company was taking on Sprinters and ext. 1 ton Cargo vans.

There are a lot of 10k cutaways that Penske and ryder have auctioned off this and last year.

Question is, what kind of mileage does an SRW cube get? All the rental trucks I've driven have been DRW, and if you get 11 or 12 in one of those, it's a happy day.
