Has any one had any trouble with transit engine

Not sure about the gasser... the Diesel engine is rock solid .... everything thing else around it sucks ...stayyyy awayyyy unless financial disaster is something you wish to battle over 5 years

2017 Transit 250 gas engine, 242,000 miles. No problems yet.

Diesel in the Transit from 2015 to 2019 is a money pit.....go gas 3.5 eco-boost

The diesel motor sounds just like any of the sprinter diesel motors...

Electrical throttle body failed during driving. Lost all power. But I've only read great things about the Transit engine, so my issue should not be an indication of what to expect.

Could be worse....could be a Promaster.

2017...2500.....bought with 124 miles.

52K, steering rack went bad.
77K, Radiator fan went bad.
79K, electronic throttle body went bad.
121K, #4 cylinder cam bearing went out. (Replaced motor)
234K, #3 cylinder bearing cam issue(replaced alternator as preventive)
261K, alternator bearing goes bad

Of course not including maintenance like plugs, struts, brakes, tires as well as headlights going out once a month.
