Canada Traffic Rules - Streetcars

Many expediters; especially B's, C's and D's; get sent places where bigger trucks can't go.
Downtown Toronto is undoubtedly one of those places.
One of the true "joys" of driving in downtown "Terawnna" is watching for streetcars.
These are the public transit vehicles that travel on embedded rails on some of our major streets.
You must be very careful when following a streetcar.
Stop behind the last door...people alighting from a streetcar have the right of way.
TTC operators are being instructed to notify the police when they see a vehicle passing and not stopping to allow passengers to get off.
If anyone has questions on this TTC vehicle I'd be glad to try and answer them.

It sounds like maybe I want to put this on my list with Chicago, somewhere I really don't like to or want to go.

Leo,

Don't cut yourself to short - the Windy is a GREAT city - it just takes a little more time to get around in with a big truck. Also, Toronto is a World Class city.

Leo: That's one of the "joys" of expediting; going places where big trucks fear to tread. I wasn't intending to frighten you off; but to explain some of the quirks you might encounter in a "foreign" country. I will be posting about others shortly.

I enjoy going to Canada
.Both Toronto and Montreal are world class cities.Have your paperwork filled out in advance,do a lot of "Yes Sir/No Sir/ and you should have no problems.Delays coming in are caused by strigent security measures and while a nusiance to wait, benefit us all.
Never give lip to a customs or imigration officer,they have the power to detain you for 72 hours on suspicion alone.
I have been to all of the Canadian Provinces with the exception of Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland plus the Yukon (take lot of $ to get me to go there) and have always had good experiences with customs on both sides. Just be patient.

I can't remember which one it is, toronto or ottawa that has in some parts have european style street with a very narrow width. I went up to one of them with a 1936 Packard and almost got stuck between two buildings. It said this way out.

Rob nice to mention the streecars, but I think the new rule about the busses would affect more drivers.
Basically ppl the rule in Ont is that busses pulling out from a bus stop have the right of way and you have to YEILD to the bus. Most busses have a sign on their left rear saying YEILD but I don't think everyone knows that it's a law to give the bus right of way. This is for all transit busses in all cities and if I'm not mistaken includes GO Transit etc. This means it is in every city in Ontario.
