Traffic Lanes

I'm beginning to gather info before taking the plung. Keep reading about the traffic lanes but don't know where they are. Do they vary by carrier? I live in extreme west-central Illinois near Quincy, Illinois, so how far out in " the boonies " am I? Thanks!

Not too far fair amount of freight from the Quincy caves and Hannibal area. Peoria has a little in/out stuff, mostly Catterpillar in mossville. Chicago is probably the busiest city for all carriers that work this area. With FDXCC, you can get a run just about every day there in any size truck. Then there's St Louis. a pretty good area for most national carriers. You're not so far in the boonies as you might think.

terryandrene, thanks for the info. I don"t know what size truck yet, or which carrier. I've been a contractor with FedEx Ground for 11+ years and lean toward CC but have much to learn. I enjoy the pro's & con's here on the forum and plan to be in Woodhaven in August.

blucolr,

I'd love to hear what motivates you to consider a switch from FedEx Ground to CC. We see those big white Ground trucks rolling by all the time. What kind of deal do Ground drivers get? What kind of work do they do? What makes, at least in your case, expediting worthy of a Ground driver's consideration?

ATeam, At Ground I'm in the P&D end, I'm the guy who comes running to the door with your package, gets a signature and runs back to the truck again. Don't get me wrong, Ground has been good to me overall but things change, as my knees remind me daily. Before FedEx I spent almost 15 years driving TT local, reginal and long haul. The kids are pretty much raised and I'm thinking It's about time for "Mom & Dad" to see some of this GREAT COUNTRY.
