What are some of the essential tools? These are the things you just can't get buy without. A must have to run your expediting business effectively. Include truck related equipment. IE: labtop, generator. etc. Thanks everyone for your help

1]GPS System
2]Good cell phone with good coverage area.
3]comfortable sleeper.
4]Heating system so truck doesn't need to idle.
5]tow cable in case Consignee does not have dock. pallet Puller.

6]E-track 2 rows Min. Load bars 2-Min. Straps 4-Min.
7]Good smooth deck.
8]Satelite Radio.
9]Professional dress [shirts to have collars,work boots,Long pants,]Work Clothes {coveralls to protect clothes if working on truck or have an oily piece of equipment that you may be hauling,leather gloves,hard hat,safety glasses.}
10]Cardboard for tow truck driver to lay on.

11]Cargo blankets,shrink wrap hand held roll,card board or plastic corners to protect freight when securing.
12]2x4 wood blocks. 4-Min.
13]Pens,clip board,paper,calendar,stapler,envelopes,postage stamps.
14]Tape measure so you can make sure cargo will fit into your truck when you arrive at shippers. Min-25'
15]tool box with basic tools,flash light cordless drill wood screws to fasten blocks down.

16]First aid kit.
17]entertainment items. [books, lap top, DVD player etc.]for long layovers.
18]Winter kit Includes {water,non pershable food,camping shovel,paper towels,tissue paper, tractiom material, bright flag so it can be spotted from the air, matches, extra batteries for flash light.}
19]DOT required items.
20]Good attitude.

Profitability, Luck, read the past Posts and you will learn how valuable our (toys) are worth.

The single most valuable tool in my truck is my GPS there are many to choose from I choose the Megellan 700.

And I would add:

1. jugs of water for all seasons
2. clothing covering 2 seasons (Canada to Texas)
3. A 0 degree sleeping bag for those really cold winter times
4. trucker's atlas
5. CB radio
6. company forms and log books for 2 months
7. spare hoses, belts, fuses, oil and fuel filters
8. truck tire guage
9. a hobby you can enjoy in the truck
10. the patience to wait for that next load

That was a great list of thing "To Have" with you and number 10 I will admit is a must.

I think the must haves without being nasty here but are must haves in my mind.

Truck
$5000 mto $10,000 in savings (Trust me)
Credit Card with a limit of at least $2000 and all availible
Cell phone
Flashlight
load bars and straps 2 bars and 6 straps
E Track or some type of tie downs in the box or trailer
A 1 800 number for 24 road side assistance( you may be told by your carrier that they are going to help you. Do not fall for that. They will most likly only help you if you have a load on the truck)
An extra pair of shoe strings
2 boxes of Large Back TherMa Care wraps. ( These heat up when exposed to air. They can be put around your feet in shoes or in cloths in winter to help warm you if you are stuck. You can also put them around thing on your truck to thaw out if frozen) They stay hot up to 6 to 8 hours.
Extra Wiper blades
Extra Wiper fluid
A back up job just in case
