To Lock or Not To Lock . . .

that is the question. Whether it is better to make yourself available for all qualifying loads . . . or, only those that are WG.

You know, I've heard it both ways . . .

Some say, that they want to see everything that is offered and take the power away from FedEx; yet,

Others say that you decrease your load acceptance rates by fending off the crap.

So, what is your preferance?

When times where better we as an Express truck would leave a WG lock or Customer lock on us but not anymore. We want all loads opps we can get so as soon as we see a lock on us we call in and ask that the lock be removed.

A lock can have its advantages and disadvantages. Its all in how one feels about it.Last week 30 seconds after I had a lock taken off I was offered a load. Was it a great load no,but it was a load

It depends on the day and location, and what kind of freight you expect to see at the time and place you are.

It also depends on if you’re a White Glove truck or an Express Truck on how you will look at locks.

As an Express Truck we need to be available for every load that we are qualified for.

A T-Val truck has many more opportunities to be offered a load as they are qualified for most loads that allow reefers.

Why would a WG lock be put on a non WG truck to begin with, just wondering, could it be one of those phantom WG locks for one of those phantom WG trucks, you know the trucks that are not officially in WG but get the WG loads.

Just food for thought.

We'd starve on that thought.
WG loads get put on non WG units all the time.
Pass me the wings.:D
