What about the "money making truck" category?? That should account for something. Maybe?

Now there's where I can agree with you col. I love those fancy trucks but they still need to make money.

Really, two people agreeing with the col.. I say we show up with last years tax return, top money makers get in. What do ya want, someone who sits around polishing the rig or someone making the large dollars. I want to meet and talk to the money makers, not a wheel polisher...

My concept is to make as much as possible when awake so you have enough money to pay the wheel polisher while you sleep.

Wow! Two of you. That is unusual. Anyone else? Maybe we can go for a record here. Dunno how we'd set a standard, maybe truck revenue per mile, for ALL IFTA miles. Getting a little late for all that tho. So, I guess we'll have to say, "yep it's pretty, but, can/does it haul any freight?"

RE: Looking For The Best of the Best...

You guys are all GOOFY!! Any one that says we don't run hard doesn't look at our load acceptance or our income!

We take pride in our truck also as that is how we make our money. First we take care of the essentials and that does include our retirement because some day by golly we are going to do that!

We also do what we can to make our truck available for as many loads as possible which means in our company a lift gate and a tag axle. We then make sure we are qualified for everything and anything the company offers. As most of you know we have Molly and she does stop us from doing as much as we like to but with the income we have we can afford to do what we like and we can still have our old dog who thinks we are just great.

Having said all that we would sure like preferred parking at the EXPO this year! Why not talk with others that are looking at this profession or even better talk to your peers and share stories of what has worked and has not worked for you. We are always striving to improve our biggest expense which is fuel. We have done many extras to our truck and we sure don't mind sharing what has worked or not worked.

We have a working truck and it shows but we still have what we considered a comfortable truck that looks GOOD.

Cannot wait for the EXPO and thanks Lawrence for this great opportunity!

I see nothing wrong in taking pride in your truck,it not only shows pride but being a professinal. As we all know we have down time in this business, and polishing your truck and keeping it clean,is a hobby to some,as is some of us that like to sit in the tv room a vegatate. As team Caffee said,I also would like to park in the preferred area.

Chrome envy?? Not in this lifetime. Interestlingly, last year at the expo there were a couple of TT fellas showing their rigs out front, and had a big KW with a 12 or so footer on it showing beside them. and as I walked up and spoke with one of the TT owners, as he was moving his chair into the shade provided by the KW box, I said, getting hot out here eh? And he said yep, "I been setting beside this truck all day looking at it, and, I believe I finally found something it might be good for".

Obviously whoever said that didn't understand expediting then did they?

And people with that mentality probably drive boring cars and don't understand why someone would by a 2 seater sports car, or a hot rod. Hey, they all get you the same place, right?

I've seen many 'big truck' drivers who don't think Expediters can make money. But they're wrong. And you know what? If a driver can make money with a smaller truck, hey, it's personal choice.

Let's not get so hung up on 'my kind of truck is the only kind' that we can't appreciate others' hard work.

Some people look at a truck as ONLY a tool, others want the best looking tool they can have, and some want both in one package. None are wrong, it's just different.

Back on topic. If you have a truck you're proud of, send the info and pics in!

Shoes polished, recent haircut, clean shaved, shower daily, clean clothes, and the list goes on. None of them make you any more money unless you are the salesman. All of them cost money, would anyone like to be the first to standup and claim yourself to be the unclean?

I say take pride in your ride. The one complaining about chrome or polished alum. are the same ones that have a bunch of dirty grease covered walmart tools in the tool box. After all they will still turn a bolt.

Hey Lawrence,

If we do not have any or all of this on our truck, what does it make us??? :+ :+ :+

RE: Looking For The Best of the Best...

Sensitive??? Wrong guy. Tools make me money, weather it is a wrench or truck. Walmart tools work the first time or two, mine work for not only my life time but my son's and his son's. None have been left dirty, ever period. Why? One word, pride. Do I polish my truck? No, nothing to polish, but it is clean. Just spent a few days off with rubbing compound to clean dead paint off.

If you don't have something to be proud of (tool wise ) it's your problem, not mine.

I guess it would make you an owner operator without the following:
large sleepers, custom paint and/or interiors, comforts of home, chrome boxes, tools, APU’s, liftgates etc. :)

Back to the topic though - we are looking for above aveage rides. Trucks that have the bells and whistles. When you pull that rig into a truck stop - heads turn. Only hand picked units will be on display.

Well Dreamer, the fella waz show'in his truck at an Expediter Show, So.. I presume he was/is connected somehow. Dunno? It was simply a passing comment of the moment, and, I don't know what he knows, or, understands about anything. But, I must say he had that one figgured, as far as i'm concerned. Actually that moot bed, and clean tools, an other stuff could be added as categorys too. Might cause excitement to the weekend y'all have planned. Maybe.
