TN To Fight Terrorism Statewide.....

We got to be one of the first trucks into this inspection. I 65 south just over the TN state line. We have a business based out of Nashville. The target was our 6 wheel Isuzu NPR.

I was asked for my Birth Certificate, which is now etched in stone since last summer you have to have it on you, so I had that, they looked all through the truck, glove box, had dogs in it, opened the back, dogs in there. Spent about 40 minutes under it.

Then came the check book, they took the company check book into the office along with my credit cards, library card, voters ID card, they did call my bank to verify my account, my CDL insurance etc. They were to put it mildly pretty obnoxious, considering I have employees and pay lots of TN tax.
Absolutely disgusting ....

I can understand looking at the truck but not someones checking account. The bank did say that it's an increasing thing to look at check books in traffic stops. They didnt look at my log book though ? weird. Just my two cents on what to expect.
Just curious - did they record or photocopy any of your credit card or bank account info ?

SERIOUSLY...... THEY ASKED FOR ALL THAT ID? I'm sunk. Well guess our RPM just went UP again. Put up with all that cr*p for 1.90@ mile who the heck do they really think they are??? Oh yea Big Brother, and the remnants of the day we lost our freedom. Another glaring instance of why we need to be sure and vote, police state, fema camps,no right to bear arms,no freedom of speech, no freedom of press....

Good question........

This is going too far, if he wasn't in that office WITH them, and it didn't sound as though he was, how can he be sure WHAT they did with all that information.

Question...were these TSA agents or your regular scale house workers??

I mean for God's sake, you don't have to show banking information to get on a PLANE.

I don't like it I tell ya, I don't like it.....mmm...mmm...mmm.

The article linked quoted col Tracy Trott [he? she?] as saying "It's really no more thorough than a normal inspection."
Excuse me? Checkbook? Library card?
WTH does either have to do with a DOT inspection of the truck, load, and driver's qualifications?
This is just waaay over the line!

I would like to have seen Montana........

Seriously, if it's true, I have a big problem with this.

Has anyone seen the Fourth Amendment lately? Appears as if we've misplaced it..........

I don't know if it's a completely accurate quote, but LDB might say " looks like another page I'm gonna have to rip out of my atlas." :D

They will be allowed to see my CDL, registration and insurance card. NO other ID OR the inside of my sleeper without a warrant. I don't give a flip who they are or what court says then can.

Someone needs to teach me how to do multiple quotes!:D

The hubs and I were talking and wondering how long before you're stopped in every state and checked just as you are now north of Laredo and other places throughout the south??

Might as well get rid of that prepass if this is going to become the norm.

We came through Eagle Pass the other day and they asked us if they could search our van with a drug dog. We said okay and they made us wait until one was available and could be brought to the site. It's kinda funny cuz they do the walk around with the dogs every time we come through but this time the dog was being used somewhere else and I guess these two old fat, white people just look like a cartel or something. I am really okay with it cuz I respect what the border patrol does. With our government giving guns to the bad guys (fast and furious) to help kill these agents I am amazed there are any border patrol agents still willing to do the job.

What would be the point of having you wait for them to bring in a dog after you'd consented? Or what's the point of asking you if the dog is 20 miles away?

Time to withdraw consent, I'd say.

I get that Eagle Pass and other close to the border places need to have checkpoints, and I've never objected to those but that's not what we're talking about here.

I probably would have withdrawn my consent also, I've got work to do and if you don't have your tools (dogs) available when I come through, it's really not my problem.

I'm not !
the Border Patrol have no real mission, and no real border to patrol .
the only rezone they are harassing us inland, is because of the Gov. needs to spend our money away.
the money being spent on manpower over the years could've /should've spent on a real border. an act that would've eliminate thousand of Gov. jobs. & even vacant TSA from the needs to inspect trucks in TN...

Layout, what do you do at military bases when they tell you that they are going to inspect your sleeper?

Just an FYI, when you are at the border, you have no right to refuse.

It is my CHOICE to accept or refuse those military loads. I KNOW in advance that I may be searched. Therefore, I have no problem.

I DO have a MAJOR problem if, and when, they just stop me for NO valid reason and as for my "papers". Thems be fightin words!

So I got that, no problem with doing it as part of the job.

How about border patrol along the Arizona and Mexican border, the same reasoning - no looky because no permission?

It would depend on just what kind of mood I am in that day. TN is a totally different ball of wax.

The military loads are a "special case". I can refuse those loads. Other than never driving in TN there is NO way to get out of being stopped.

They can see my CDL, registration and insurance card. They will NEVER enter my HOME! I will also refuse to provide OTHER forms of ID. My "papers" are NONE of their business.

"State to State, NO Papers"!! That FREEDOM is what I protected for 20 years, old habits die REAL hard.

So Tennessee is taking the place of the feds? Maybe they need to focus on the growing population of invaders in the eastern part of their state and the crime that rivals Detroit in Memphis first?

What happens when a new president and maybe a new congress cuts funding for these programs?

Hey now, Pilot will foot the bill for Tennessee, they own the state.

In a state where you can be your own grandpa, Terrorism is not allowed...

From the very first Rapper:

He's His Own Grandpa
(performed by Phil Harris)

I met a guy today I knew years ago, when he was 23,
And he was married to a widow who was as pretty as could be.
Now this widow had a grown-up daughter who had beautiful hair of red,
And this guy's father fell in love with her and soon the two were wed.

Now this made the guy's dad his son-in-law and changed his very life
For his daughter was his mother because she was his father's wife.
Now to complicate the matter even though it brought him joy,
He soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

Now his little baby then became a brother-in-law to his dad,
And so became his uncle and though that made him very sad,
For if the baby was his uncle then that also made him brother,
Of the widow's grown-up daughter who was of course his step-mother

[chorus]
(He's his own grandpa) Now you're catching on.
(He's his own grandpa) Well naturally!
It sounds funny I know, but really its so.
(He's his own grandpa) Well wait a minute, get a load of this!

Now his father's wife had a son who kept them on the run,
So he became his grandchild for he was his daughter's son.
His wife is now his mother's mother and of course that makes him blue
Because although she's his wife she's his grandmother too!

(He's his own grandpa) Fun in the living room
(He's his own grandpa) Absolutely!
It sounds funny i know, but really it's so.
(He's his own grandpa) Yea, but look, get the payoff.

Now his wife is his grandmother, then he is her grandchild.
And every time the guy thinks of it it nearly drives him wild!
For now he has become the strangest case you ever saw,
As husband of his grandmother, he's his own grandpa!

(He's his own grandpa) And loving every minute!
(He's his own grandpa) Oh tell me more!
It sounds funny I know, but really it's so,
He's his own grandpa.
He's his own grandpa!
