Not just those places, but everywhere, actually.
Just a guess, they might not mess with us vanners too much anyway. The idea seems to be that terrorists could hijack a rig and then use it as a weapon, same as they did with those airliners.
Would be a lot easier to buy rigs, if they want them, than risking a hijack. I'd bet they would have bought the aircraft for 9/11, if they could have: fewer victims, but waaay more control.
I think the idea is that we are out there on the road every day, often a road that's familiar to us, and paying attention to the surroundings is part of our job, so we might catch something 'unusual' that other motorists wouldn't realize IS unusual. Damifino what, but I guess the thought is that we'll know it if we see it.....
OK, if I do notice something that "ain't right", I'll notify somebody. However, I'm not a trained TSA agent and it's doubtful if I'd spot something that isn't kind of obvious.
Of course you will - as Diva noted, we all would. The only problem is, terrorists aren't stupid, and they pay attention to what we might think 'ain't right' also. They know we are wary of Middle Eastern males now, and I wonder what they might do to get past that...
Maybe this program is in anticipation of all the Mexican trucks and drivers that will soon be on I-40.
The TSA is wasting their time targeting trucks and buses. The vehicle of choice for 9 out of 10 terrorists is a plain white van. The TSA should start VIPRing all vans or just ban all vans from America's highways.
The concerns about Mexican trucks and drivers do not include any suspicions of terrorism, and suggesting it just helps dismiss the legitimate concerns as equally farfetched, IMO. Unless there's a connection I missed?
I don't know if we can still think that way, Cheri. Not after that alleged plot they thwarted recently.
..... yeah ....... what she said:I'm having a really hard time putting that much credence in the FBI & DEA press releases [no proof, just their word, which is hardly golden after 'Fast & Furious'] myself.
The most difficult challenge in writing about the Iranian Terror Plot unveiled yesterday is to take it seriously enough to analyze it. Iranian Muslims in the Quds Force sending marauding bands of Mexican drug cartel assassins onto sacred American soil to commit Terrorism — against Saudi Arabia and possibly Israel — is what Bill Kristol and John Bolton would feverishly dream up while dropping acid and madly cackling at the possibility that they could get someone to believe it. But since the U.S. Government rolled out its Most Serious Officials with Very Serious Faces to make these accusations, many people (therefore) do believe it; after all, U.S. government accusations = Truth. All Serious people know that. And in the ensuing reaction one finds virtually every dynamic typically shaping discussions of Terrorism and U.S. foreign policy .......
