And I understood that was your opinion .... I did not object to it in anyway :)

That will be a very sad day if/when pets are not allowed with drivers. :(

good we are on the same page....:D

I wished "some" drivers would care for that loved one better...they don't walk them near enough....a 2 minute run is not near enough exercise for a dog...they are killing them with love all in the name of companionship....

It maybe the only friend he has got ..... :(

EL..I have a proposal to our stalemate....if the pet is allowed in the truck, then the pet must pass a physical standards test just like the driver...as per SPCA???

I use to have a pet rock, it was the perfect pet. It never complained, it never required my attention, I didn't have to worry about feeding it. I could let it sit for months and when I needed its companionship, I could pull it out and kiss it for good luck.

If I ever get my hands on the guy that stole my bag with my pet rock.

I just might have to get me a new one some day. Pet rocks are awesome because they don't die, they don't lick you needlessly, they don't make a mess and they are hard as a rock and there to support you when you need it.

Hey..it is my opinion....and I think the next on the hit list with FMSCA will be pets....

Yeah, the pets, the CB radios, then the music players of all sorts...not for 4-wheelers, mind you; they have too many votes. But for us...

Eventually, we'll be like the UK, where a driver was ticketed by one of their silly public safety officers for picking his nose while stopped at a stop light because he didn't have both hands on the wheel.

Y' all know that when freedom is completely dead here, there's no New World to go to, right?

every person in a vehicle has to in some sort of restraint or the other...pets should not be an exemption....
and pets should be banned from commercial vehicles altogether...

Yea lets just make truck cabs completely sterile, no phones, no cbs, no pets, no food, no music, no gps, no coffee or soda, no pickles. I bet there is just as high a percentage of truck accidents in one with pets as those without.

I would definitely go for that, and so would any responsible dog parent :)

Obviously they have to have their Rabies etc paperwork all in order at the mo anyway.

AM - I would love to see this article please - cos that is not against the law in the UK. (unhygienic yes, against the law no)

Also ... what is a public safety officer?

lol @ a cat on a leash!
Blizzard, if we ever meet, I will introduce you to Dingle, the adventure cat. He has been able to train me to walk with him on a leash. He knows how much additional space I need, so he doesn't go where I don't fit. Dingle has the most satisfied curiosity of any cat. He has been on the road for over 10 years. Ever since he began riding as a kitten, I have accepted that I would not be able to drive without him. He is not restrained in the truck, but there is a floor to ceiling kitty climber where the passenger seat used to be. :p

I think it is fine to take a cat on the road if it has been raised in the truck from the time it was a kitten. My cat is the queen of the entire place and she enjoys her leisurely life here in California. I just feel so bad because she is 16 years old now and she has no idea that she only has a limited amount of time with us. I hope she makes it to age 20, but I'm not so sure about that. Well, maybe we'll meet sometime when I get my butt back on the road. Still gotta do 1k of work to the van and then teach my business partner how to use the computer and I'll be rolling again.

I would guess there are far more accidents caused by Cellular phones, talking and or texting. Then there are from a pet(s) being in the rig with you.

I'll see if I can dig it up. It's been a while.

I thought they were called public safety officers. They're the patrolmen who aren't really cops but have some authority to write citations. They walk around in the yellow vests.

Traffic Wardens are Meter Maids - they cannot write a ticket for picking your nose LOL :p, or for not having 2 hands on the wheel (cos there is no law that says you have to :D)

Hope that clears that up for you :)
