Seasoned Expediter
The other day I was on a load that was originally scheduled to pickup at noon, then changed to 15:00E. The delivery time was for 7am the next morning. No problem, except with the 15:00 pu time caused me stopping at a later time. To get a proper break for HOS The 7am deliver would need to be later.
I waited to communicate with my dispatcher when I knew the times instead of saying one time only to change it later. The dispatcher told me not to worry about HOS because the QC would not show movement since I was only 15miles away from delivery, WRONG, I know how it works, I was a boat capt. for 15yrs.
What I am curious about is why there was so little info. When I got to the delivery, at 7am, I was told that they do not have anyone to unload until 9am, errrrrrrrr, and I could have brought the load straight in, they are open for receiving until midnight.
I called my fleet mgr, he said that with 3rd party if I would have come early or later than scheduled time there would be $ deducted. I felt like I did when I first started driving with WERNER ( based on actual experience) being forced to run not legal and when anything said your are threatened by various means. I was able to unload the rolls of fabric myself, which was a good way to vent my frustration.
I just want to know the third party deal. I understand the freight brokering and such but why not get the load there early and why if the company did not receive until 9am was I told to be there at 7am.
